I always imagined death as a fast process that takes mere seconds. You're hit by a car and in the blink of an eye you're standing at the gates of hell - I mean heaven. No one told me it would hurt like a bitch. That it'll be as painful as this: blistering agony rushing through my chest, the burning sensation of flesh meeting the cold oxygen, like alcohol meeting exposed flesh and muscle it BURNED. They say that your life is supposed to flash before your eyes and that in your last moments you would find peace. Too bad that they lied ...

I felt my knees kiss the ground as I felt the hot crimson liquid pour from the wound. My ears were ringing as the screaming voices around me became muffled. It reminded me of those blinding white lights when a grenade goes off in movies. I finally brought my eyes down to see the silver claymore sticking out of my chest. I let out a strangled cry as I felt my body fall to the side. I thought that I would have the power to fight this pain, to rip this sword out of my body and continue fighting, but I was weak. Powerless.

My body crashes into the ground as my eyes roll around my head, desperately trying to focus on something. Anything. I could faintly feel my body being lifted as sparks shot through my body at the contact, I knew I wasn't dead yet if I could still feel them. My entire body felt like an inferno, and for a moment I was brought back into my childhood. Back into the cages where blood was spilt for the pleasure of others. The sound of a voice thick with emotion brought me back to reality. My body was shutting down and I had nothing left in me to keep fighting, I pleaded for a miracle to save me. I didn't want to die but it seemed fate had other plans for me. The last thing I remember before I was sucked into a black abyss of unconsciousness, was the worried and tear filled eyes of my mate.
