San is usually with someone. Usually that someone is Wooyoung.
So why, on the one time he is with no one, he gets lost? Gets his phone snagged? In the middle of LA? All he wanted was ice cream, was that too much to ask? Sure, he knew he wasn't supposed to be out alone, but the other's were busy packing up and San just wanted to buy ice cream for all of them to enjoy.
So why, again, is this happening?
He used maps to navigate his way to the ice cream parlor he desired to go, so he has absolutely no idea how to get back. Or maybe he does? The taxi turned at a chocolate store, so he needs to find that.
No, he was not panicking. He was taking the situation like Seonghwa had said, calmly. If you panic, you do irrational things, and that was the last thing San wanted; to draw attention to himself.
On the good side, he knew enough English to ask for directions.
"Uh, excuse me?", He shyly waved at a man.
The h/c haired man stopped walking and gave him a questionable look. San smiled nervously, "Do you, Do you know where --- hotel is?"
"Uh...", The man sighed, scratching his head and looking around. "I don't actually, sorry. Oh, but you can use maps to find it."
San pursed his lips, nodding, "lost phone..."
"Ah...Ok, well I guess I can take you", the man took his phone out, pulling up maps and handing San the phone so he could type the hotel's name.
"Thank you..."
The man nodded, "My name is Y/n...by the way. Might as well know while I walk you there."
San nodded, hitting search. "San, I'm San."
They were both quiet for a while, staring at the screen and mentally begging for it to stop buffering and hurry up. Once all the places popped up, they sighed in relief. San turned to look at Y/n, "that way", he said while handing the phone back.
"Ok."
The walk, in short, was very awkward. San was pretty sure the ice cream had melted half way. He didn't pay much attention to Y/n, and vice versa. All he wanted to do was get back to the hotel, and sleep.
"You're not from here huh?", Y/n mentally slapped himself at the obvious.
San shook his head, staring ahead as they walked.
"You're English is good, are you studying here?"
"No, eh, just visiting?"
Y/n nodded, "I see. That's nice. I thought you were one of those international students that came this year."
San turned to look at Y/n, fully. "You study?"
His hair was styled well, sharp-ish features and casual attire. He wasn't much taller than San, maybe the same height, but in such situation San felt small.
"Yeah, I'm 20 and in college. It feels great to study all night and still get a low score on a test."
It took a while for San to process the words, "What are you, What are you studying?"
Y/n sighed, staring ahead. "I'm studying fashion design. My parents were kinda against it? But who cares, I'm the one working and paying for it, so they get no say in what I choose to do."
San nodded even though he only understand half of what Y/n had said. "Work as?"
"I work part-time as a waiter at Olive Garden, most of my earnings are from the tips customers leave me."
"Restaurant? Is near your, your college?"
"Basically, takes about twenty minutes by car."
"That's nice. Very"
Y/n smiled a little, "I guess- oh we're here! Well it was nice meeting you, don't get lost again."
San smiled and bowed a little before watching Y/n start to walk away. He stood there, not knowing why he wasn't moving. Until,
"Y/n!"
The man turned around at the call of his name, giving San a questioning look.
San fidgeted with the bag, "Em, can I get your number? I want to be friends...is that okay?"
Y/n hesitated before shrugging. "Fine by me, I'd rather give you my Instagram though since your just visiting and if you go back to where you live I might have to pay to text you."
"It is fine"
San pulled out the receipt of the ice cream he had bought, he handed it to Y/n who pulled out a pen from his shirts pocket. Y/n scribbled down his user before giving San the receipt back.
"Sorry my handwriting is wack. I'll anticipate your text, just tell me who you are so I remember. Take care"
San smiled, nodding. "You too. Thank you!"
Y/n simply waved before leaving San's sight. As soon as San turned around, he faced the hotel. He sighed heavily, shoving the receipt in his pocket before taking a step. A step closer to a huge scolding.
A/n: since it's quarantine time, might as well publish more stories I know I'll never finish. Isn't it great? No, I'm joking. I hope I finish this aksksk
