Her mind has been gone
For oh so long
That sparkle once bright in her eyes
Has dulled so much I almost didn't recognize
The kindly face with mouth wide open
Mumbling words to people broken
Her heart, it hammers in her chest
Trying hard to do its best
But I'm afraid it's not enough
The time has come to lay down easy
Tears are falling from my eyes 'cause
I'm not ready yet to say goodbyes
One more day is all I ask for
One day more with who she used to be
Her daughter sitting by the bed is
Staying strong for all of them
Squeezing tight her mother's hand
Whispering "I'm here" to her and then
The room is full of loving hearts
Remembering a time when things were better
While the kindly face with mouth wide open
