My life turned upside down after my parent's divorced.

Formerly my mother works as an editor at a publishing company, where she met my Father, a Spaniard professor at a University.

My Father goes back to Spain for a yearly vacation. Little did we know he had a love child named Natalia. She was younger than me. My father took her in after her mother, his childhood friend died.

My mother was not able to take the divorce lightly.
I heard her muffled cries almost every night.

I struggled to fit into my old school even before my parent's separation.
An International school for foreigners and those who can afford the high cost of tuition fees.
At 14 my grades began to slip, and my mother had me go to therapy.

I was depressed and mostly angry, shutting people out. Months long of therapy I took several courses to improve myself. One of the courses was Spanish. I wanted to find my own voice and tell my Father everything that I loathed about him, in a language he knows.

Guilty for leaving her alone, I decided to move out to a province called Negros from Manila. Where my Grandmother, Uncle Tom and my cousin Theo resides. Theo is the best person I could confide with.

My appearance is different from other Filipinos, a mixture of different races called Mestizos.

My Grandmother lives in traditional Filipino virtues.

My Uncle runs a family business, a Bookstore established in 1993, the very first in the province.

I transferred to a school called San Pablo Academy in grade 10. Where I met Erika Sarmiento, my best friend, a short and childlike girl during enrollment.

I am Antoinette Ángela de Padua and this is my story.

I took an early morning Bus to my new School.
As I walked the school lobby. People had been staring at me. Some were in groups.

I remember I just wore normal clothes. The almost oversized black shirt my sunglasses hanging from the collar, a white, intentionally ripped, skinny boyfriend jeans and a converse shoes.

I put on light makeup, accessories such as small stud earrings, and a white gold ring on my left index finger. Black sling bag and a large envelope for my documents.

Teenagers, the most rebellious phase in a person's life.

"No, of course, I'm not rebelling." ...not yet anyway. Muttering to myself, shoving the thought at the back of my mind.

Occasionally I would hear flocks of teenage boys saying " Hey Joe! Welcome to the Philippines."

Unsure whether they are talking to me. I smile without saying anything and continued walking. For a couple of reasons: One, I don't want to come across as a snob.
Two, I guess that's what normal people do?
