Neglected Freedom

Part 1

"Okay Naruto, we won't be long okay. It's just a few years and then we'll be back," smiled Kushina as she hugged her eldest. 

"Okay mommy," said the 5 year old, Naruto.

"Naruto, do your father a favour," said Minato. Naruto's grey eyes looked into his father's blue ones.

"Yeah?" asked Naruto.

"Become strong to protect Menma and Mito," smiled Minato. Naruto smiled and nodded. 

"Promise!" shouted Naruto happily. Kushina giggled at her son's choice of volume. 

"Be good for Mikoto," smiled Kushina. Naruto waved to his parents as he couldn't wait to see them in 2 years time.

What young Naruto didn't know that Minato and Kushina planned on coming back in 12 years time. 

[2 years later].

Everyday Naruto trained and trained. He trained with his Godbrother, Itachi, and helped look after his other godbrother, Sasuke. Naruto was always a happy child until one day. 

He woke up in the middle of the night due to a bad dream. Itachi was sleeping out 'round Shisui's, so Naruto couldn't go to him. He went downstairs where Mikoto and Fugaku was there. He heard something that he didn't want to hear.

"What? What do you mean Minato and Kushina are coming back in 12 years time?" asked Mikoto.

"Even I'm shocked. Minato sent me this message this afternoon and I waited until tonight to tell you. Here, read the message," said Fugaku handing Mikoto the letter.

"Hey Fugaku, Mikoto,

You don't mind if you look after Naruto for 12 more years right? Me and Kushina decided to train the twins in controlling the Kyuubi outside the village so nothing goes wrong. 

It's just that we don't want the twins to be in any danger. We can always train Naruto later but the twins are more important. 

Well talk to you soon, bye

From Minato Namikaze." read Mikoto. She crunched up the letter.

"What an idiot. You can't just have 3 kids and decide to neglect the one that doesn't have any power in him," said Mikoto. Naruto let out a sob, gaining Fugaku's and Mikoto's attention. They both looked at where the sob came from and Mikoto's heart broke.

"Mum and dad won't be coming home until I'm 17?" asked Naruto. Mikoto walked up to Naruto and hugged him. 

"T-They don't love me," cried Naruto. 

"Naruto, I'm sure that they do," said Mikoto. 

"N-No they don't. Whenever I was around, they always looked uncertain at me because of my different appearance. I heard them talking about me one night. They said that they'll get rid of me when the twins were born so they can restart new," cried Naruto, making Mikoto cry and Fugaku furious. 

"Those bastards," growled Fugaku, ignoring Mikoto's glare when she heard the 'bastard' before she looked back at Naruto. Naruto hiccuped and looked up at Mikoto. She gasped. There in Naruto's eyes were two Sharingan with 2 tomoe in each eye. Fugaku's jaw dropped. 

"Y-You two l-love me, right?" asked Naruto. Mikoto smiled and hugged Naruto closely. 

"Of course we do, you've always been our son," said Mikoto. Naruto smiled. Fugaku lifted his jaw and smiled.
