Harvey was immersed in her book, walking down the hallway. She was idly twirling her wand around her fingers, and not paying attention. Suddenly, she slammed into someone.

They both fell to the ground, and her book and wand flew out of her hands. "Oh!" She exclaimed, startled. She readjusted her glasses to see a Gryffindor staring at her. He was stifling a laugh.

"Are you ok?" He asked kindly, getting to his feet. She nodded, grabbing her book quickly off the ground.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" she said.

"Don't be!" The boy shook his head, smiling warmly. "I wasn't watching where I was going, anyways. It's not your fault."

She nodded, relaxing a tiny bit. That was, until she realized her wand was gone.

"Oh shoot! My wand! Did you see where it went, by chance?" She asked, frantically looking around.

"Uh, no, sorry. I didn't even know you we're carrying it. Let me help you find it." The boy dropped down beside her, searching the ground.

"Sorry again," she said. "I was reading my book...." she trailed off. The boy waved her off again.

"You're fine. It happens sometimes! My names Dan," he extended a hand. Harvey shook it quickly before returning to searching.

"Harvey! Nice to meet you! You're a Gryffindor?" She tried to make small talk as they made their way slowly down the hallway.

"Born and raised!" He laughed. "And you're a Slytherin? You're a little nice to be one of them." She raised an eyebrow.

"Well, I could say the same about you! Gryffindors havent always been the sweetest to me," she shrugged.

"Well, I hope that I change that mindset! I pride myself on being nice, and extremely charming." He boasted. She laughed, rolling her eyes.

"Most do. And yet I still find Gryffindors extremely hard to get along with- there it is!" She exclaimed, grabbing her wand finally. It had fallen into an old crack in the floor.

"Ah, good! You found it!" Dan clapped. She stood up and tucked it into her robes.

"Well, thank you for the help, Dan. I'll be going now!" She waved him goodbye and slipped off.  Dan watched her go, waving as she went. The first interaction of a new friendship was completed.

Dan and Harvey had become friends quickly. While they didn't always hang out, because Dan was a year ahead of her and in a different house, they still grew very close.

The friendship helped Harvey immensely. She became a lot more confident during this time, and her nightmares started to slowly turn into regular dreams. Something about Dan's presence had made her happier.

Harvey's friends, mostly Isabella and Peony, tried to get her to gossip about him constantly. Harvey always told them the same thing, "I'm not interested in him!", but they persisted anyways.

While Dan and Harvey were good friends, their groups had not mixed well. Dan's friend, Luka, had apparently bullied Isabella in her first year. Harvey hadn't believed the story, though. Why would Dan be friends with a bully? And Peony had dug up dirt on Dan's other friend "Radcliff", although Harvey had never met the guy.

Overall, Dan was the only member of Dan's friend group that Harvey's friends liked, and vice-versa.

That didn't stop Dan and Harvey from hanging out around them, though. At Hogsmeade if one of them saw the other, they would go say hi.
