Out Of Time

last chance to say goodbye

It was a late night on a Tuesday, the rain outside was hitting the window which made it sound like machine guns, it resonated in an almost deserted bar. Inside, was Matthew on his late night shift "It's not too bad...God imagine working on a Friday or Saturday" he murmured as he chuckled slightly. Matthew sat there on his phone going through his messages exchanged with his old mate that he would be seeing in three days and hopefully going out for a drink with. Matthew was so focused on the messages that he didn't even hear the door open as someone walked in and took a seat, it was only when a voice pierced the silence that he snapped out of his own world and looked away from his phone. 

 

"Hi it's me again...” Sally said as she gave a nervous giggle looking directly at Matthew. 

"Oh it is you again! How can I help you then? “Matthew asked looking into her eyes but there was no answer she just kept staring into Matthew's dreamy eyes and hoping that tonight would be the night that she could finally find her true love in this man.

"Umm hello?" Matthew said this time louder "Can I get you something?"

"Oh sorry...umm could I have a coke please..?" she said quickly trying to hide her face under her scarf.

Once Matthew grabbed the cup, he felt her eyes pierce him like two swords being stabbed into his body. 

 

 

"Matthew I can't stop loving you!Please give me a chance, maybe yesterday was too hasty but please you'll love me for who I am! “She let it out in one breath hoping for the best. Matthew walked over handing the drink.

"Listen Sally, it’s getting late and it's closing time I think it's best if you finish your drink and leave."He said sternly. 

"But it..." She said, before being cut off "Now would be good just finish your drink and leave" Matthew said, now a lot more ticked off than he was before. 

 

"Fine. I’ll leave."She pulled out her wallet and put the money on the table alongside a piece of paper which read "Here's my number and address if you ever change your mind. Come find me maybe? Love Sally xxx"
