The Hollow Knight was constantly repeating these "self bindings" to seal away the plague that haunts the dreams of the people in Hallownest within itself.

He's nothing but a creature born of God and Void, created empty and absolutely hollow, with no mind to think, no will to break, no voice to cry suffering, a perfect vessel but...a child?

Sealed away in a temple, chained up with countless seals and bindings encased inside a black egg and protected by 3 entities, 3 eternally resting dreamers, a teacher, a watcher and a beast, giving up their waking selves to become a seal that shall insure the kingdom, that is Hallownest, lasts eternal

~in the City of Tears~

Dryya's P.O.V.

I was in the city of tears, looking at the statue of Hollow, mourning him, everything was cold and sad, the only thing I could hear is nothing but the sound of the rain.

"Hollow, after all these years training with you, you finally did it, you fullfilled your life purpose, you saved us all" I said with a sad tone to the statue of him.

"Through out these years of training with you, I've never had been fully truthful with you, ever since I saw you several years ago, when we were still very young, I saw you training with my father, and from that day I felt something warm and bubbly in my chest, we would play whenever you were free and overtime that feeling in my chest grew stronger, when I became a knight we had our first spar together and as the seasons changed and the years passed, we stayed the same, I began to feel something more for you, something warm in my chest, I didn't just love you as a friend, but I was...in love with you, I tried hundreds no thousands of times to tell you, but...we all know you are emotionless, it's hard to accept my desires to love you when were sealed away by your fate, but even if you never say a word to me, I have endless words to say to you." I said as everything went quiet and the only thing I could hear was the soft gentle sound of raindrops hitting the ground.

"Hollow...you stole everything that was in my heart, but now I lost you forever." I said as tears began to flow from my eyes to my cheeks

"Hollow...I promise you, I promise that I will protect Hallownest with every might I have, it's the least the only thing I can do..." I said as I walked away from the statue while crying a bit.

Hollow's P.O.V.

'Do not think, do not hope, do not speak'

'do not...'

'...'

'do not...love...Dryya' Suddenly a powerful light emerged in my mind, it grew stronger every second.

'Dryya...I failed this kingdom...I failed you...I'm sorry...' I could finally think to myself and then suddenly everything went orange and I lost control of everything.

Narrator's P.O.V.

The eyes of The Hollow Knight glowed brightly and his mask cracked from his left eye, allowing the infection to leak out, cysts of infection formed on his torso, the room of the temple was filled with an orange mist coming from the crack, and he let out a monstrous roar. the door of the temple glowed 3 masks of the dreamers. The famous infection, has returned. And after long years it has been finally over.
