what snake bit you   what fate   hit you   that Orpheus could not see

it is raining tonight   we shall lie on papers  unawares  in the glare

of  full  moons  and  tarry    searching    for news

on  tainted mirrors   our dreams watching  for the cracks

at  the  seams    and now  you wipe your feet  on broken glass

and  the shards  pierce my heart    echoes from the dark

kingdom   retreating   in the  chilling  cries  of a mockingbird

in  the  mist of  mysteries    we err    and  you  teach me

nothing   belongs to me   but the endless waiting

no train leading there

a failed hero   the gods loved him   though

and  we roam our sleepless nights  longing

with  Cerberus  at the gates

but   the   music
