Shadow!Seven's POV
I woke to the sound of footsteps and I realized that I had fallen asleep. I sat upright, still seated next to the pile of books on the floor. The steps were only the sounds of other Shadow Children playing tag and just walking around in general.
I had been trying to read earlier from scrolls and books, all those unknown words scratched on such a thin piece of white parchment made me feel so lost. A small breath escaped my mouth as I stood up, feeling a bit fatigued from the mysteries. "Maybe its something I was never meant to know about." I mumbled under my breath.
All the sounds always seemed to hurt my mind, the whispering shadows that taunted me, hissing backstabbing comments under their breaths, thinking I don't know. I narrowed my eyes behind my mask, at the enemy's who stood all around me. They thought I have forgotten them. The ones who broke me this way. My hands clenched and unclenched at the thought of killing them all, but I knew that I needed to calm myself. "Soon." I growled.
I made my way down the stairs, away from those assholes and into one of the rooms. It was my favorite place in the entire Residence. It was a small room with a piano, chair, bookshelf, and lamp. There was even a cute vase with a flower in it resting on the piano, and a picture of TheMaw on the far end of the room. I sat down on the chair with all the lights off (Besides the lamp at the other end of the room.) and heaved a sigh. It was quite a tranquil place. Everywhere else but here was dangerous and lonely. Most of the other kids had friends, groups, and sometimes families. But me...? I was neglected and hated. But for what reason? I don't know... I didn't do anything wrong.
I heard the door open and I raised my head up. To my surprise, it wasn't any of the other kids, but it was Six! A crooked smile rose on my features as she approached me, shutting the door behind her. "And here I thought you were still burying your nose in those books upstairs." She said as she sat beside me. "Well, I was but-" "But now you're slacking off?" She said in her "I'm dangerous and you know it" voice. I frowned at her. "No. Its just those cretins upstairs are bothering me." She tilted her head at me thoughtfully. "Do you want me to kill them? Make them grovel at my feet while I list what they did wrong?" I let out a small sigh. "Nah, doing all that with them is tiring and useless." She continued to stare at me. "...Plus, momma will get angry at you for spilling blood on the carpet." Six twisted her head around and hopped off the chair. "So you're saying you would let her punish ME? And that you wouldn't help me kill them?" I let out a snort as I hopped down with her. "Of course I would help you kill them, princess." "I thought I told you not to call me that." "My apologies." "You sound so pathetic when you talk that way. "My Apologies"." She scoffed.
I shrugged and followed her as she paced around the room. "I always talk like this." I tilted my head at her and she turned to me. "Yeah, but its still weird and annoying when you do that." She frowned at me. "I mean, who even says "Indeed", "Correct", and "Greetings" in one of there daily sentences besides you?" Before I answered, she stepped close to me. "Its a rhetorical question, but your face is leaking again." She reached one hand up to touch my face, and the other hand wiped the black streaks off my mask. "I swear, this keeps happening to you more and more everyday." I tilted my head. "But, what about you? Your face leaks sometimes, and when it does you never really clean it." She frowned and shook her head. "Don't worry about me, you don't need to worry about anyone but yourself you here me?" I opened my mouth to respond, but she gave me a "Shh" gesture. "No Seven, not even me. Promise that you will only care for yourself." I flinched away from her. "You know I don't make promises..." I looked up and stared at her. She looked disappointed. "Just remember that when feeling and caring too much, hurts you." She pat my head before walking out, leaving me in the dark, quiet room.
(Hhh. Okay, this is just the start so it isn't THAT long. I hope you enjoyed this first part.)
