san softly grunted as he turned his alarm off, rolling over and opening his eyes to see the back of his wife's head.
he sat up and rubbed his face, leaning over his wife to press a quick kiss to her forehead before slipping out of the bed and heading towards his dresser. his wife didn't have work today, but sadly he did. san worked all week and had the weekends off. his wife, youngmi, had weekends off too but also had tuesdays and thursdays off.
san got dressed and left their bedroom, walking down the hall to wake up his son. his son, of course, had school today. he had started first grade not too long ago.
"jongho, time to wake up buddy." san spoke softly, running his hand through his sons hair. the six year old whined and rolled over, swatting at his fathers hand. "five more seconds dad..."
san chuckled at the boy, moving over to his bedroom door where the light switch was. he flicked the switch up, the once dark bedroom becoming much brighter. jongho let out a loud groan and sat up to frown at his father. "five seconds are up pal, get ready while i make your lunch for school."
san left his sons room and went across the hall to his daughters room. just like her older brother, she'd have to go to school today. preschool. san made his way over to the little four year old, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "good morning princess, you gotta get ready for preschool."
the girl whined and sat up, rubbing her eyes with the back of her tiny hands. "g'morning daddy."
san smiled at her as she got out of bed, holding onto her little stuffed bunny that she carried everywhere, and started to get ready. "what would you like for breakfast yunji?"
yunji looked up at her father before turning to look her bunny toy in the eyes. "bun and i want eggies please." she looked back up at him with round eyes, san smiling and nodding at her in return.
he turned around to leave the room only to see his wife leaning against their daughters door frame, a warm smile on her face. san kissed her cheek as he walked by to exit the room, youngmi giving him a small smile before entering yunji's room. "c'mon yunnie, mommy will help you get ready."
san walked down the stairs and through the living room, making his way to the kitchen where he was to make not only breakfast but lunches for the kids and himself. as he pulled out the proper pans to cook the eggs and the bacon, jongho had padded down the stairs and was making his way towards the kitchen counter to take a seat and watch his dad.
san opened the fridge to grab the egg carton, pack of bacon, butter, and a juice box for jongho. "you all ready for school jong?" the boy nodded at his father, grabbing the juice box and poking the plastic straw into it.
"anything special you want for lunch?" san glanced back at his six year old after having cracked the eggs into the pan, putting the eggs back in the fridge and moving to put the bacon in a different pan.
"uhm.. can i have a pb&j today? oh and maybe some potato chips. can i also get some carrots dad?"
"yes sir." san nodded and started searching through the pantry for the ingredients he'd need. he took four slices of bread and set them aside to make toast, spreading them with butter before popping them into the toaster.
whilst putting the butter back in the fridge, he grabbed the rest of the sandwich ingredients and the carrots. just as the eggs and bacon finished cooking, youngmi came down the steps with their daughter in her arms.
san prepared everyone's plates, jongho grabbed a napkin for himself and for his little sister. he placed the napkin in her little lap and then went to grab another napkin for her bunny. "thank you jongie." yunji smiled at her older brother, moving on to try to shove some eggs into her toys mouth.
youngmi went to take care of yunji's lunch while san finished up jongho's, putting the carrots back and handing everyone their slice of toast.
"jongho, sweety, you have eggs all over your mouth." said boy sent a sheepish look towards his mother and used the back of his hand to wipe his mouth off despite having a napkin in front of him.
"why didn't you use your napkin buddy?" san raised his eyebrow, taking a bite out of his toast while waiting on his sons answer.
"cause my toast is on it." he answered with a mouthful of bacon, making his dad chuckle at him.
the kids finished their breakfast and ran to the front door to put their shoes on, jongho helping yunji with hers, and ran back to the kitchen to grab their lunches and to wait for their dad to take them off to their schools.
their mother kissed their heads and went back upstairs to get some more sleep, san finishing up with cleaning the kitchen and grabbing his car keys out of a little jar they kept on the counter. "are we ready to go?" his question was answered with tiny nods and they all headed out the door.
san started up the car, jongho helping his little sister with getting into her carseat, and they headed off to jonghos elementary school. yunji tried to sing along to all the songs that came on the radio, san turning up the volume to encourage his little popstar.
san pulled up to his sons school, unlocking the car and telling his son to have a great day at school. "remember mom is gonna pick you up ok?" jongho nodded and san handed him his lunch. "bye bye jongie!" his sister waved at him, making her bunny wave at him as well. san watched to make sure his son got into the school building safely before locking the car doors and driving off to yunji's preschool.
san parked the car and got out, helping his little princess out of the car and holding her hand as they walked into the building. "hello mr. choi!" one of the preschool teachers greeted san at the door, yunji letting go of her fathers hand to run to one of her friends. "good morning mrs. cha." san nodded towards the woman. he was about to turn around to go back to his car when his daughter came running back to him, hugging his leg. "bye daddy, i love you!"
san grinned down at her, crouching to her level to give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "i love you too. have a good day yunnie." he let go of her and watched as she ran back to her friend. he waved to the preschool teacher and walked out the door to hop back into his car, driving off to his job.
