Was this really life? I thought to myself. Did everyone have a small space surrounded by four walls? Did everyone have a man that descended the staircase with a plate of scraps? There has to be more than four walls.

Stopped in my thoughts I heard the man's pounding footsteps. I watched as he set out a white T-shirt and a pair of white jeans. You still don't trust me, the man said. He grabbed my jaw and pulled me to his chest. Do you think you can escape here? He threw me against the wall. You will die here!

My vision blurred and before I knew it everything went black. Was this real life? Repeated in my head over and over again. What was the point of holding myself firm? If I die would it be better than here? Is the purpose of life to die? I thought back to the wooden stairs. Where does the man leave to? There is something more! There has to be something more! My mind shouted.

Wake up my dear. Just open your eyes a voice called out. The stairs, climb them, my dear. I promise a world of mystery, the soft voice whispered. The word mystery stuck to the roof of my mouth. What is a mystery?

I fluttered my eyes trying to wake myself. My head hurt just above my eyes but I tried to push through the pain. Fluttering my eyes again only to catch a glimpse of red before my eyes shut again. I took a breath and fluttered my eyes open. I let my eyes focus for a minute while the blur faded. The once glimpse of red turned into a pool of blood.

I reached to hold my head as it was pounding. Blood covered my hands as I touched my head. I'm losing too much blood. I can't die yet I have to know what's at the top of the stairs. A mystery was what I would find, yet I could not define the word mystery.

Slowly I got up and reached to grab the handle to the wooden stairs. I paused for a moment to think if I should keep going. This could be the end. I took another step climbing the stairs making my decision. I took another step, then another, and another until finally, I was face to face with a wooden door.

The silver knob reflected me into a long slim figure. I slowly reached for the knob to turn it. The knob slowly turned as I was trying to keep quiet.

The door creaked as it opened ajar. I pushed it further as I cringed as it creaked further. I closed my eyes taking another step out of the door. I could feel my mouth hanging over in amazement. There were so many walls and objects to look at. The walls even had squares of people on them. I walked further to find a wide area with walls going in different directions.

Creak!!!

The man! I remembered as my mind started to race. My head pounded harder as I ran back to the door to find it closed. I had opened the door before and now it was closed. I heard footsteps heavier than before pounding against the stairs. The door flew open to be face to face with the man. The man grabbed my arm with such a tight grip it drew blood. He pulled me towards him and he growled at me.

The panic, no the rush that came over me. I pushed away. I fought for my life for the first time. I somehow managed to free myself from the man. Not knowing what to do I fought to close the door to keep him from grabbing me again. I had almost closed the door when he suddenly burst the door out of its hinges. The door fell right on top of me forcing me to the ground. He picked the door off of me knowing I wouldn't be able to move.

Just as I was about to give up and take the consequences of trying to escape, something told me to kick. Just kick, and keep kicking until you have no strength left. I used the last of my strength to kick at the man.

Loud banging noises descended the stairs. Slowly I raised myself off the floor. I glanced down the staircase and was horrified. Blood was traveling to the man's body which lay dead at the end of the stairs.

Keep going a soft voice whispered. I turned my head slowly to try and find the source of the voice. The door, to your left. the voice trailed off. I looked to my left and saw a grey door with a silver knob.

With the wall's support, I walked over to the door. I placed my hand on the knob, unsure if I should open it. What's behind this door? What if it's not as amazing as the first door? I took a breath before making my decision......
