The next morning as I lay in my bed I was sleeping peacefully until suddenly a blood curdling scream "Ahhhhhhh" jolted me awake it sounded as if whoever was screaming was right to next me. I stood in my bed frightened and confused with my ears ringing I looked all around the room for the cause but there nothing no person no explanation for that dreaded scream. Then it hit me "mom" I murmured as the thought cane across my mind , my...my Mother maybe it was mother worried I stormed to her room to check on her condition. As I made my way down the hallway and opened her door she was still in bed fast asleep I let out a sigh of relief and walked over to her to check her temperature and get an update on her condition. She was still warm so I took some covers off her to help her cool off and replaced her towel.
The day went on very uneventful I checked on my mother every couple of minutes made sure she had everything she needed and kept her company. I really wanted to talk to her about that scream I had heard this morning but, I didn't want to worry her about anything I just wanted her to focus on getting better. As the day grew to night my mother was already deep asleep and, I was trying to make some headway into my essay I really needed to get it done as the due date was approaching rather quickly which was stressing me out quite a bit. After a short while I was deep into a lengthy paragraph when I heard it "Ahhhhhh" it..It was a scream but, this time I knew who it was from that was undeniably my mother's voice I sprang up from my chair knocking it down and ran straight to my mother room. As I arrived my mother was sitting up in her bed in a panic I tried to calm her down trying to find out what had her spooked. After awhile she regained her breath "Mom what happened?" I asked as I tried to comfort her as best I could
"It was so loud" my mother said still breathing heavily
"What was mom" I was confused but I felt like I already knew what had happened but I had to be sure.
"It...it Was a scream right in my ear it so loud and horrifying" my mother explained my face changing from an expression of concern to complete terror and a pit growing inside my stomach what was the meaning of this. My mother had noticed the change in my expression and asked me what was wrong I told her that we have had the same experience.
"The same thing happened to me this morning mom I don't know what's going on around here but I'm scared" I said relieved to finally tell her and that I wasn't going crazy but, it didn't make the situation any less frightening. We decided that we both must have had some sort of nightmare we were grasping at straws with an explanation like that but there was really no other way to explain it. I ended up sleeping in my mother's room that night in order to keep each other close incase anything happened thankfully nothing did but I can't say the same for nights that were to come.
