My Own Fame (Sequel to 'The Trap')

Lily's POV Chapter 7

"Who said that?"

"People. So why did you walk past me earlier?"

"I didn't see you. But who people told you that?" 

Then he listed off all the guys in my village, our village leader (Mason) and I believe that Dylan was on that list too.

"Well I'm better now."

"I'll be the judge of that."

"So I saw you talking to Mason."

He nodded.

"Well I hoped that you enjoyed that positive interaction with him because he's not going to be a fan of you in a few minutes. That's all I'm saying."

"What are you talking about? Everyone loves the Ax-Man!" Axel said, flexing his muscles.

I sighed heavily. "It's just that I'm about to introduce you to my two sets of parents and Mason is my second father."

"Um is it true that he's Holly's father?"

"No, she and I have the same birth father. Maybe I'll explain it to you someday."

Just then a bell went off.

"Did you-?"

"Did I what?"

"Did you um ask me that question to help me not freak out."

"Well that depends, did it work?"

Instead of answering him, I gently grabbed his face and passionately kissed him. Just then a frisbee hit the tree. Even though I knew it was going to happen, I still screamed.

"What was that?"

"Holly's cue. C'mon let's go."

"Where? What?"

I looked straight ahead to see my sister near the picnic table, where my parents were waiting. The plan worked well as she was able to disappear as Ax and I took her place. Then my parents, Uncle Mason and Aunt Beth questioned us all as a group about Holly's whereabouts. I was about to speak up and say that she had to use the restroom. But Dylan had another explanation to where Holly went. He simply said that her boyfriend was on the phone. That was a pure lie, and even though I knew the truth, I still believed him. My parents and Bridget's parents were satisfied with Dylan's answer that they just moved on. 

Sitting at the table with us was Dylan, Bridget, Avery and Bayley. My sisters had brought twin brothers, but their names escape me now. Then the girls and I took turns and filled our parents in on three main things; where we met our guys, how long we've been dating them and if the relationship was going somewhere or if we're just casually dating. A and Bay had met their guys at school, have only been dating a few weeks and both were unsure about the last question. 

Even though Bridget and Dylan have been together since high school, they still had to go through this whole process because they're still not hitched. Maybe it was because both of their parents were running this meet and greet, or maybe because these lovebirds have broken up before. But whatever the reasoning was, I hope by this time next year that Bridge would be my sister-in-law and they will be expecting! 

And as for Ax and I, we have been together for a couple of months now. When I said that we want to get married soon, Mom and Aunt Beth couldn't stop smiling, while Dad and Uncle Mason were both shocked and surprised. It was neat being able to keep a secret from all four of them and surprise them all as well! They were shocked to know that I was dating someone, but it seemed to me that they liked who I decided to date too. 

Then my sisters, Bridge and I were allowed to leave while our men got questioned some more. I was honestly scared for them. I hope that Axel won't crack under all this added pressure. 

What I thought was going to be a stressful day, turned out to be an amazing day with my family, our friends and my boyfriend! Axel fit in well with everyone and made it his mission to play and to get to know each one of my siblings personally! I didn't ask him to do that, he did it out of the kindness of his heart. He began to fit in better than I do with my own family. He helped my nerves to settle and I was actually able to enjoy myself at my favorite beach! My parents seemed really taken with him too!

Mom and Aunt Beth liked how Axel played well with all the kids, while Dad and Uncle Mason pretended not to like him as much. I think they were trying to protect me and to make sure that Axel was legit and wasn't putting on an act in front of them. I'm certain that Syd and Isaac will vouch for Axel if it's ever needed because they'd do anything for us.

By the time the sun was setting, my younger siblings were having an issue of letting Axel leave. But we had to go because the beach closed at sundown. However, I asked my parents if Axel could come hang out with my siblings soon and they approved! 

After we said goodbye to everyone, my roommates, Bridge, Ax and I went to go get some drinks to have some young adult time too. I was really worried about Holly because even though she was acting like herself, I could tell that it was just a mask. I know that she was feeling like the odd person out with not having a date. It wasn't my business to tell, but when she had a few drinks, she told on herself. As my brother and his girlfriend tried to get our Holly back, Axel and I discussed how we should involve Sydney to help with Holly's love life. We decided to bring it to her attention the next time that that we're watching Sydney's kids together.  

Axel's such a great man and I'm so thrilled that he is mine!
