Hi my name is Jaz and this is about the time when my mother and I met something that we're still shaken up about and, a series of nights we'll never forget but before I get ahead of myself I'll start from the beginning.
It was a late December night and I was checking on my mother as I had heard her coughing from the next room over she was ill and I was left to take care of her as my father was out for business for a couple of weeks. I peered my head into my mothers room "Mom how are you doing?" I asked as I stood in the doorway waiting for a reply, "Do you need anything?" I asked as she moved about in her bed restlessly
"Can you bring me another wet towel to put on my forehead honey" my mother asked groggily.
I happily obliged and went over to take the towel she currently had her fever must have been taking a toll on her I exited the room and went to the kitchen for another fresh towel. As I made my way down stairs I was startled by a gust of wind busting through our window. The wind was picking up heavily outside and, I could see the trees swaying in the wind I locked the window and continued to the kitchen for my mother's towel. I returned to my mother after a few moments and placed the towel on her head softly as she was already asleep I let myself out quietly and went back to my room.
I was working on an essay for my Government course deep into the night I was determined to make some progress as I was writing I noticed how the room suddenly felt freakishly cold. I was shivering and decided to step out to check the thermostat as I arrived I noticed how it hadn't been changed at all in fact it should be quite warm considering it was set to 70%. I was confused but, I just turned it up just a tad more and headed back up to my room to continue my work. I checked on my mother once more on my way back to make sure she was ok before getting back to work and, I ended up putting another blanket over her to keep her warm as the unnatural temperature persisted.
I then made my way back to my room and as I walked down the dark narrow hallway a sudden noise startled me the sound of knocking it was coming from downstairs "the front door who could be here at this time?" these thoughts crossed my mind I was perplexed. As I stood in the hallway the knocking persisted at an inconsistent pace I was scared to move as I had no idea who would be at our home at this time of night but, even so I made my way down the stairs ever so quietly to see who it may be. As I approached the final step at the end of the staircase I could see the door I hadn't heard a knock as I was inching closer but, Thud there it was the knock. My sense of security gone and my mind racing at the possibilities "a robber, a serial killer, or just a crazy person," I dreaded as I stepped closer and closer to the door but I had to see I had to know what was behind that door.
I was finally there trembling I peered into the peephole and there was there was nothing. I moved over to the closest window and scanned the property nobody I figured maybe they left or someone was just playing a prank I felt silly for letting my mind run wild on me. I made sure the door was locked and went back to my room breathing a long sigh of relief. After everything that went on I decided to just call it a night the temperature finally returned to normal and I went to sleep and this was the end of the first night.
