In the small town of Kiso, there lived a beautiful girl named Yuna with her father. Her mother vanished from their house mysteriously on a fine afternoon. Her poor father took care of her and all her needs until a thunderstorm struck the town and de...
Kiso was one of the most beautiful towns in Japan. Although it was tiny but it was nice. A valley surrounded by rounded hills. The hills were all covered with plush, green grass and little, white wild flowers. A river flowed across the green meadows and made the whole place look like one of those perfect scenarios which we drew on our copies as little children. The sun shone brightly above the hills.
Yuna was playing with her best friend, Yui inside her big dollhouse. They were busy cooking food as the marriage ceremony of Yui's boy doll and Yuna's girl doll was to be held on that day itself. Yui asked, "Yu, what if the sky broke into pieces and fell down on us?"
"What? Nothing like that is going to happen. Sky is not a simple object to just break and fall down", replied Yuna as she perfectly shaped the rice balls with her hands.
"YUNAA-A-A-A...."
"Oh no! I think mother is back from the hills. I got to go, Yui. Please take care of the food for some minutes. I'll be back," said Yuna.
Yui continued to cook food for the ceremony. It was so calm and quiet, that afternoon. The birds chirped from some distant place and one could hear the trumpet of a herd of elephants from the nearby forest. Otherwise, it was all so quiet. Yuna's father was away from home for a few weeks to the city for some work. So, Yui agreed to stay with them for some time.
Twenty minutes passed by. And Yui noticed that Yuna is still not returning. She started to get worried and came out of their little hut whose roof was thatched with hay and mud. A narrow passage separated their house from the rest of the town. Yui started walking down the lane and screamed Yuna's name at the top of her voice but nothing came in reply.
The town had a population of 80 people and therefore, it was always very quiet everywhere. Yui, now reached the end of the town and the forest was about to start after a few more kilometres.

She got really scared and ran back to the hut. She saw a lady figure sitting inside the hut and got extremely frightened. She approached the figure slowly and as she was about to put her hand on her shoulder, the lady turned around and it was none other than Yuna but she had tears in her eyes. Yui sat down beside her and asked her to explain what just happened.
Yuna broke into tears as she explained that she saw her mother getting perished into the forest. She ran behind her but she was nowhere to be found as if she has just vanished into thin air. And while explaining this, she began to cry louder and louder.
"What must have happened to her mother?!" wondered Yui.
