Hehe I decided to make a visual of how I imagine Death and Life would look like^^ , i used an icon maker, i'm not this talented lmao. There will be a few more visuals! I have them as teens and as kids. I used the website picrew which has all sorts of customizable templates that make it really easy to create your book characters for visuals! I really recommend it!!

As the day comes to an end, a whistle is heard, dismissing a few angels off work, as well as the head of Life district. Life walks into the cubicle rooms before heading off to home to make sure there's enough staff to make sure things will run smoothly during the time he's resting. He doesn't worry much though, since on Earth a minute over there is an hour for them, making Life's job easy since each passing minute is immensely focused on the activity going on in the world. So for 12 minutes each day on Earth, Life is temporarily away. But that's not all, along with him. Death clocks out of his district at the same time to head home. His grim reapers take over for him while he's away as well.

Though today, Life was anxious heading out to home. As he went down the elevator to go to the main lobby, his gold  eyes scanned the small room quickly in thought. Today was Valentine's day and he knew he had to do something for Death. His stomach felt funny. He leaned his back against the elevator wall, his hands running through his pure white hair. He already had a gift waiting at his apartment, but he wanted to do something more. He thought about making dinner but last time he tried for their anniversary, he almost burned down the place and Death teased about him since. Maybe a movie night? No, Life remembered they have those almost every night.

The ring of the elevator snapped him out of his thoughts and the door opened to reveal the lobby and entrance to the building. He sighed and walked out, seeing his motorcycle parked in front of the building in his reserved spot. He put on his black helmet and started the bike, speeding off. As he reached the downtown of his city, he slowed down and looked at each shop, hoping to get inspiration. After a bit he realized he really couldn't see well in each shop and decided to park his bike and take a small stroll through the town. He stuffed his hands in the coat pockets of his white uniform coat. Life looked at each shop window, hoping to find the perfect gift, the one that would jump out and he would know thats the one. He already had flowers at home, Death's favorites actually, he grew them himself. He just wanted to do something more, to show how much he really loved his boyfriend.

He leaned against the brick wall of one of the buildings, deciding maybe to just stick with the flowers. He knew Death would appreciate anything, his face would flush with any form of adoration. But that wasn't enough for Life, he wanted to know that Death could really feel his affection. He pushed himself to stand straight up and decided to maybe just do something more homemade like the flowers, so headed back to his bike until a certain noise grabbed his attention.

He heard a soft meow that made him turn around. He noticed a small ball of white fur walk out an ally way, making his way towards him. He realized it was a white ally cat with big blue eyes. It looked a lot like the cats Death would show him pictures of,  and thats when a lightbulb went off. He picked up the cat and smiled at how happy the cat seemed to be at being held. He felt the gentle purr and knew this cat was perfect for his boyfriend. He looked down the street and remembered the Veterinary that was close by and made his way there with the sweet cat in his arms.

The cat was really light and the protruding bones gave away that it hasn't eaten much. While Life could technically heal the cat, he can't provide any required vaccinations and he could tell that the small animal was only about a year old. He hoped it wasn't too late for the Vet to be open, he wanted to bring this creature home. Though as he ran his hand through the cats fur, something dawned him.

Death may not accept the cat. Life frowned, remembering that Death doesn't like accepting gifts that are alive. Not because he dislikes it, in fact he loves plants and animals, but he always fears that things die too soon because of his touch. It's something he always feared, and felt really insecure about. He managed to control his abilities for work but Life knows his soft heart wouldn't handle not even a plant dying in his care. He quickly blames himself. Though at the same time, he knew Death wanted nothing more than a fluffy companion to rest on his lap while he reads his favorite books.
