SERIOUS TW//
AND READ DESCRIPTION >:(
Here she stood, or right now she was sitting on the ledge.
Kaitlyn never knew how beautiful New York could look from so high up. Right now, she sat on the skyscraper where her stepmother use to live, before she moved in. It had so many floors and so many different people lived in each room, some people were actors or actresses, business people, clerks; it was beautiful, astonishing.
Kaitlyn will never understand why she moved out.
It was also windy from up here, she should've brought a sweater or something, but whatever.
She didn't plan on living much longer anyways.
A long time ago she used to come up here with her father. They would always come here for things like New Years or the 4th of July and they would watch the fireworks. Except now there were no fireworks and Kaitlyn's father had decided he didn't want to be a part of her life.
She wanted to cry, to jump and stop feeling anything but the wind. The only senses she wanted to feel was the sound of traffic, the sight of the New York lights, and the scent of cigarettes.
A long time ago she wanted to be on TV for a different reason, she wanted to become a musical actress, similar to her mother. Her parents would always say "the lights were made for you, sweetie" and "I'll be in the front row everyday for you" but dreams only last so far.
Her mother eventually left on long business trips. Long trips that only got longer, and we're only laced with more and more drugs, until one trip lasted her whole life.
She continued crying. She realized had been crying the whole time, probably before she even made her way to the top floor of the skyscraper.
God, she missed her mother.
Part of Kaitlyn hopes that her mother can't see her right now.
The other part wishes her mom never left. If she was still alive, maybe Kaitlyn wouldn't want to do this, maybe if Kaitlyn's mother was alive she would would find Kaitlyn and get her down.
Instead, no one knew she was gone, and her mother was replaced by a lady named Linda.
She was growing tired of feeling invisible,
she stood up.
Her stepmother was nothing less than stepmother-from-Cinderella-worthy. She abandoned 2 children, 7 and 9, to live with Kaitlyn's father, and she wasn't even true to him.
She felt bad for the two children that had to be on their own now that Kaitlyn wouldn't take care of them. She didn't want to leave them alone in the world. Maybe she shouldn't have taken care of them in the first place, then they wouldn't be affected by this.
Maybe their mother should've just taken care of them like she was supposed to.
She felt angry for the woman who was terrible to them both and left them to fend for themselves.
She felt disappointed in her father for choosing to fall in love with such a bitch and leaving his daughter alone.
But soon it wouldn't matter how she felt.
She put the letter down at her feet and took a deep breath.
At least she could finally be on the news, maybe they would turn her life story into a musical like she wanted. Maybe other people could love music just like she did and not have to feel like her.
"Broadway, here I come."
She jumped.
