Chapter Two - Alex

I was singing to myself when my alarm went off. You know, the alarm that goes off twenty minutes after the original one goes off so it makes sure you're awake. Shit, I forgot that there was school today. I quickly rushed up and got dressed. I don't wanna be late for today. Today is the day that we get notified of our class rank. Of course that hot-shot Ethan Roberts is gonna get valedictorian. Ethan's been at it since 5th grade(Yes, I know that our grades are calculated starting freshman year, but he has had that mindset since 5th grade), and we'll see today during homeroom. I get my backpack and rush out to my car. I need to get going quickly or else I'll be late for school.

About twenty minutes later, I arrive at the school house. My best friend Troy walks up and starts a conversation with me,

"Hey there Alex."

"Hello Troy. I'm kinda running late." I start pacing toward the front doors so I wouldn't be marked tardy. I got about three minutes before that late bell rings.

"You gonna be late," Troy says to me as if I didn't already know. I begin to run. Not only so I can be on time for class, but also so I can outrun Troy. To tell the truth, he couldn't run to save his life. Just as I was about to make it to class, the worst possible thing happens. I, yes me, Alex, runs into someone, nearly trampling them. As I get up to see who it is, they were already gone, but they left their math binder just laying on the floor. I'm guessing that this guy will be needing this, and as I turn around, I find out that I was right.

"Alex, would you mind giving that back to me?" says Ethan.
