I felt the soft breeze hit my face as I made my way through the long corridor that led to my room. I was beyond exhausted and I had been studying for the past four hours. My roommate was out with her boyfriend..Me? I was stuck in my room on a beautiful Saturday night. My boyfriend had bailed and went to a party that I had no business attending.
As I looked up, I saw a male I had never seen before. Brown, Curly hair. Green eyes. Tall. Muscular. Lots, and I mean Lots of tattoos.
I passed by him and walked to my door, grabbing the key from my bag and unlocked the door. I opened the door to my flat and walked inside, Dropping my bag and closing the door behind me. Sighing loud to myself as I walked to the kitchen. I grabbed a glass and filled it with water. Bringing the cup to my plump lips, Downing it quickly. Placing the glass down on the counter by the sink, I then made my way towards the hallway.
The flat was rather large and convenient for my roommate and I. It had a large living room area that had enough room for a couch, two chairs, a television system and our decorations. The walls were white and decorated with pictures of us from the past two years. She had been my roommate my freshmen year and we were still friends now, during our junior year.
Our hallway was decorated of pictures of us and our family. Eleanor was an only child with her mother and father. Her parents were somewhat of a forbidden love and when they fell pregnant. They lost all contact with the rest of their family so they are really all she has. Then there's me, Leilani, Lani for short to my friends and family. I had my Mother, Father, and my two younger sisters. Our families were close thanks to our friendship.
My eyes were tired and my body felt heavy. It was only eight but it felt like it was one in the morning. I guess my eyes were tired from all of the studying that I did. I pulled the blankets back and laid down in the bed, I didn't even worry about changing. My body was tired.
I fell into a deep slumber and didn't have much rest when I began to dream, a scary one. One that reminded me of my past, My high school experience before I met Cam. Then it flashed to him speaking to me. When I woke up, He was standing over me and so was Eleanor.
"Hey, Are you okay?" Camden asked as he looked down at me.
"Yeah, I was letting Cam in when we heard you screaming." Eleanor said as she looked down at me, standing close to Camden.
"I-I'm fine." I whispered as I slowly began to sit up, Cam sitting down on my bed beside me. His hand resting on the small of my back. "Just a bad dream is all." I said as I looked up at him, Wrapping my arms around his neck. Burying my head into the crook of his neck.
"Well, Babygirl. I'm here now and I won't let anything bad happen to you." He said as he held me close, El rolling her eyes as she left the room. This usually happened when Cam and I shared intimate moments.
"Please don't leave, I'm scared." I whispered as I pulled away to look into his eyes. My brown eyes meeting his blue ones. "I don't know if I will be able to go back to sleep after this." I admitted as I bit my bottom lip.
"I can stay a few hours but I got to get back home." He nodded as he helped me back down into the bed, trying his best to help me relax. he laid beside me and rested his arms around me protectively.
Eventually, I fell back asleep with no nightmares and happy dreams. The ones of Camden and I's future life together, our future home and children. I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off and the ruffling of feet in the hallway outside of my room. 'Eleanor'. I thought to myself as I slowly began to get up. I brushed through my hair as I looked in the vanity that held a mirror. I pushed my hair behind my ear as I opened my door.
Walking down the hallway, I noticed that Eleanor had already left. Which was odd of her. Usually I was the first to leave them her. Shrugging, I went to the kitchen and grabbed cereal and milk, pouring both of them into a bowl. I grabbed the bowl and a spoon then sat down on the couch. I spooned for my cereal and pulled out my phone opening my social media.
I scrolled through, liking a few pictures and a few quotes that I could relate to. Nothing seemed to phase me until I came across a picture of Eleanor. It was a picture of her and this mystery man she had been telling me about. It was the guy I saw the night before leaving the apartment. He was cute, but she was my best friend and I had a boyfriend.
With that, I finished my cereal and made my way to my room to continue getting ready. I put on a black shirt, which cut low on my back but covered my front. A pair of jean that had a few rips above and below my knee. Along with a pair of black heels, Then pulled my hair up into a ponytail. I walked out of my room, closing the door and went to the front door. I grabbed my bag and walked out, locking the door behind me.
The campus was fairly close to my apartment so most days I walked. As I made my way onto campus, I caught up with Camden, El, and now her mystery man.
"Hey Lani, This is my absolute best friend and roommate." Eleanor said happily as she looked up at the curly haired male. "She's like a sister to me." She said happily.
"Hello, Love, The names Noah. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said as he held out a hand to me. His accent caught me off guard but I decided to go with it.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Leilani. My friends call me Lani." I said as I took his hand into mine, giving a gentle shake as my eyes met his.
In that small gesture, In the small amount of words, I knew he would be mine. That we would be together and that my whole world was about to change. This feeling hit me like a ton of bricks, something that I couldn't seem to shake.
With that, I went to class and all I seemed to think about was the curly haired male, I met earlier that day.
