Grim Reality

Times have changed over the years in which reality has altered. Its a sick and twisted world out there. The sounds of sets of people wander the streets searching for the mark of the Reaper.  No ones ever survived longer than 24 hours with an x mark on their skin. The size and place depends on the person. If your lucky you might be able to hide it but, that rarely happens. Screaming is a constant sound found crawling through the gloomy roads. Parents kill their offspring and Children murder the wise. This horrible thing is legal due to the collapse of the government. Not many of us survived. The population massively decreased turning chaos into crisis. No wonder the Grim Reaper took off for his vacation. He must have been tired for taking more than half the population.

Asher Dean is the name and sneaking around is my game. My 8 year old little sister Lilly, was recently diagnosed with Sycinegreidosis, a new, deadly, air born disease in which the human body flips inside out. This illness is extremely painful and contagious. She yearns for help but no one can get close enough to help her without catching it. She screams in pain from the next room over, her clock is ticking and I fear the count may be low. Our father has been raising us ever since my mother was marked by the Reaper. My dad insists that Lilly stays home because he says the doctor would just kill her. Tears flow from my eyes every night as I hear her whimpering. Lilly and I were close, like two peas in a pod my mom always said. I like to sit in the doorway of Lilly's room and keep her company as she sits in her bed shaking. She doesn't talk much with her condition but I guess its the thought that counts. Plus its nice talking to someone about events that occurred and the jokes I came up with.
