This chapter is to introduce the main character Oliver.
Intricately carved details lined the lower half of the four wall. The upper half was painted a shade of blue so pale it was practically white. Opposite the pure white door there was a french door leading to a balcony with a hand carved fence. There were velvet drapes on either side of the door. A king-sized bed was placed on one of the walls that had sheets of the purest white. The only anomaly was a soft blanket that was an almost identical colour to that of the upper walls. At the end of the bed was a cushioned bench. Parallel to this there was a maple wood desk with a white desk chair. On the desk was a pile of books, a littering of papers and a table lamp. Also there was a dresser that used the same wood.

Storming into his room, tears streaming down his face, he heard the echoes of his parents screams reverberating off the walls. The final words that he could hear before slamming the door shut was the shrill shriek of "...you will never be worthy of your place in this family! You will never be as good as the rest of us! You don't belong here, you know it, I know it, we all know it!"
It was very short but I have lots more already written on my laptop.
