Before the Gods destroyed the humans of Remnant to spite Salem, a cult had created a mask meant to help them grow in power. This was known as the Stone Mask. An artifact that was soon found by Ozpin after his many deaths. Unbeknownst to Ozpin... thi...
Ever since humanity first rose on the world of Remnant, moments of pure light and pure darkness had shined down upon them. Moments of war, moments of peace, moments of death, moments of life, and so much more.
Within the darkest cave of Remnant, the sounds of chanting could be heard echoing throughout. To many, the words spoken had been nothing but gibberish. The chantings of madmen some would say. However, these chants were apart of a ritual. A ritual meant to help those seeking power beyond the imagination of mortals. Even if the Gods had already granted them more power than they should have.
A group of people, mainly wearing robes and masks, walked through the dark cave with torches in hand, still chanting they same words. The group slowly came to a holt as the leader of the group, who was wearing a purple, stopped and brought their hand to their mask. The figure slowly pulled with off and breathed in the warm air.
The figure then pulled down their hood, revealing long purple hair that flowed even without a breeze. The figure had been a woman whose beauty was unmatched by any other. Her tan skin illuminated why her torch as well as her red eyes which could pierce the souls of many.
"The time... has come my brothers and sisters. The time that we become more than the Gods themselves. The time that we take over."
Before the woman was an altar meant for sacrificing. However, the only thing that would be sacrificed tonight would be her humanity. The woman handed her torch to a member of her cult and began to disrobe. A smile formed on her face as the thought of evolving excited her. No longer would she be held by the chains if humanity. She would becoming the ruler of her dreams. The woman walked towards the altar and laid down on it, her back touching the cold stone.
One of the members of the cult moved towards the women with a small black box. The member opened the box, revealing an odd, gray mask with fangs protruding from its mouth. The member took the mask out from the box and handed it the purple haired woman, who licked her lips in response.
"Ah, my prized possession. You all know what to do." The woman placed the mask on and as she does so, a few members pulled out ceremonial daggers and cuts their palms. They then moved up to the woman and slightly touched the mask with their palms.
In an instant, numerous spikes extended from the mask, stabbing themselves into the woman's skull. A bright light then emits from the mask and the woman yells in pain, but she continues to endure it. For a moment, everything went silent. The woman fell to the side and the cult members rushed towards her to check her pulse. A couple of seconds went by and nothing happened. Fearing the worst, a member reached towards the mask, only to have his wrist grabbed by the purple haired woman.
"Mistress!" A voice cried out.
The woman lets go of the members hand and slowly begins to rise from her position. As she sat up, she turned her head slowly and the mask began to fall to the ground. The woman opened her red eyes and stared down at each individual member.
"Come... here. All of you." The members quickly surrounded the woman with no questions.
"I... I can feel myself growing hungry. I... require something from all of you."
Before a single member could ask what she needed, the woman wrapped her hand around the throat of someone, causing them to shake in fear of what she would do. Slowly, the woman dug her fingers into the throat of the member, draining him of something quite vital.
His blood.
After a few seconds, the member dropped to the floor, his body drained and his skin pale.
"I'm sorry my children...but I this..."
The woman licked her lips and the sounds of screaming could heard from the outside of the cave. _______________________________
"I must say, I didn't think you'd be interested in these artifacts Y/N. Usually boys at your age want to become hunters, slaying Grimm and protecting the innocent."
A soft sigh escaped Y/N's nose as he walked through the corridor of artifacts with his adoptive mother, Rina Goodwitch. Her words were indeed true. At the academy he went to, most of the students only spoke of becoming hunters. However, their reasons for doing so were all the same. They either did it because it ran in the family, they wanted to be rich, or they genuinely didn't know what to do with their lives.
In Y/N's case, he wanted become an archeologist. He wanted to explore old ruins as well as collect artifacts that could aid in his future. If he had to guess, the amount of lien he could earn from such a thing would be quite high.
"Well mother, I would rather die old and be able to live my life than become the next meal for an Ursa."
Rina sighed through her nose and shook her head.
"A huntsman's job isn't just about fighting Grimm. It's about protecting the people as well as the ones you care for."
"Then what about the Winchester family? From what you told me, their daughter is quite the brute. An annoying one at that."
"That is only one case." Rina stated.
"Oh? What of the Marxus Clan? The Hayes family? The huntress known as Prinz? They are known for doing it only for fame as well as showing off their toys. I believe it to be disgusting."
In her mind, Rina sadly agreed with her son. When she first started off in Beacon, she had hoped to become a light of hope, but then reality hit her as she realized not everyone fights for the same reasons. Especially nowadays. However, a few people did come to mind.
Despite her childish ways, Summer Rose was an excellent student as well as the rest of her team. Raven and Qrow were one of the best fighters and Taiyang was quickly climbing the ranks. She knew Taiyang, Qrow and Summer's dream. To protect the people who couldn't protect themselves. Raven was the only case she wasn't sure of. The girl could be quite reserved if she was telling the truth. Her biological daughter, Glynda, was perfect in the eyes of Ozpin. Someone who knew how to get the job done and Rina couldn't be more proud.
"Well, I want you to know that this generation of huntsmen and huntresses will be different. Just you wait son."
As both mother and son moved down the corridor, something had caught the eyes of Y/N. The object in question could be seen as an artifact, but to him it was out of place. The wardrobe of a past king or emperor. At least, that's what it seemed like to him. Both outfits seemed to be quite odd, but he had to admit that there was something to them.
"What an odd choice to have inside of the artifact corridor. Very bizarre in my opinion."
"Those are what the King of Vale wore. Such an odd sense of fashion. Let's hurry now. I believe the museum is closing in a few moments Y/N."
"Yes... mother."
A/N: If anyone was curious, this is what the female looked like.
