"But mum I'm not sure if I'm up for the job." Mum was making me get the job and work hard.
"Honey, if you want to buy a mansion and have all those good things in life you are gonna have to do the job."
"Uugghh, fine!" Some times I hated my mum.
"And plus I've already booked the flight to Dubai for you."
I left the house at 7:00am sharp so that I could get away from my mum a little bit. My flight didn't leave till 3:30pm so I just sat in the park reading my new favourite book, 'the fault in our stars'.
I looked up a little so that you could only see my eyes peeking up from the top of the book. There were two men sitting on the park bench opposite from the park bench I was sitting on but on the other side of the path. They were both in big black coats and black hats.
One was looking at his watch and the other was staring at me... Wait 'staring at me' oh my gosh, he is staring at me.
Why would he be staring at me; maybe he likes me. But that can't be right. Nobody has liked me since preschool when we were all babies and we didn't know what we were doing. Then the man smiled. Crap he was so hot. Our eyes met. It was a gorgeous moment. His eyes sparkled and shone when the sun rays hit them.
I looked at my watch: 9:07am. I got my backpack and looked around it- my plane ticket, my wallet, my sunglasses, a nut bar, my phone, my job application form and my hat. I was feeling a bit hungry. I couldn't decide if I should go to the café across the road or eat my nut bar. I just forced my bottom off the seat and left that man. He looked sad. The green man ticked as I ran across the crossing. Was he really that sad. I thought to myself. He doesn't even know me.
"Are you ready to order yet madam?" The waitress asked politely and sweetly. I turned my head around to the best surprise ever.
"Brittany?!?!! I've missed you so much!"
"Carren you haven't known what I've been going through back in NYC."
"Then why are you here in San Francisco?"
"I've finished high school early cuz they said I was too smart. So I got a little job here working in this café."
"Well done."
"Thanks."
"What about you? Why did you move here?"
"Umm well I got a..." The conversation went for so long that I didn't even check the time. It was 12:00pm.
"Oh god I need to eat something quick and then I need to leave straight away."
"Okay so what do you want?"
"I will have a chocolate milkshake and a small beef pie."
"Okay I'll try in make it come under five minutes." I loved Brittany. She was always the helpful, kind, loving friend. When I was sad, she would always cheer me up with one of her terrible jokes. We laughed cuz they were so terrible.
