“Abs you’ve got mailed!” I heard my mom scream.
“Ok! I’ll be down in a sec!” I screamed back.
Once I went downstairs, I instantly regretted it. Everyone was downstairs, my mom, my dad, and my two brothers, all-looking at the mail.
“What is it?” I decided to ask.
“It’s the letter from that overly rated college you want to attend.” Matt, my oldest brother, said.
“Whatever.”
“Well, open it!” My mom said.
I grabbed the letter from Matt and opened it. “Dear Ms. Diamond, I am delighted to inform you that the Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid has voted to offer you a place in the Harvard Class of 2018…”
“I GOT IN!! MOM I FREAKING GOT IN!”
I looked around at everyone and saw my parents hugging each other and being extremely happy, while my brother Matt rolled his eyes, and my other brother, who’s also older than me, Will, stood there smiling.
“I’m so exited and happy for you sweetie!” Mom said, then she looked at Matt saying “why can’t you be like your sister and try to get into college without dropping out?” then at Will “and that gap “year” is taking forever, it’s been almost 2 years. You need to go to college.”
“Mom stop bothering us about that.” Matt said annoyed.
“Well we need to celebrate!” My dad yelled.
And we did. We all went out to have dinner and to go to the bowling alley since it was a family tradition to go every time something worth celebrating happens. That included Matt graduating high school also. Tonight was one of the most amazing nights. I got accepted into the college that I’ve wanted to attend since I was in 3rd grade. I had to work so hard for it, and let me tell you, it was not easy. I tried my best to be a well-rounded student and tried every sport, art, theatre, music, everything. I even took honors classes since the beginning of my high school year. I’m happy to see that it all paid off in the end.
Soon we arrived back home and once we did, I went upstairs to take a shower. A nice, warm, and very long shower. I ended up taking an hour-long shower without realizing it since I was thinking of so many things. How would I tell my friends? What will they think? How am I going to make friends at the new school? Will they be nice? All my thoughts jumbled together until I heard a knock on the bathroom door.
“You’ve been in there for freaking hour! Get out! I need to use the bathroom too you know!” I heard Matt scream.
“Geez, just give me a minute will you??”
“What’re you even doing in there? Thinking about your crush? Huh Abby?”
“MATT! WILL YOU SHUT UP?!”
“Whatever little sister.” He said with a smirk that I knew was planted on his horrible face.
“Ugh..” I groaned. He’s so stupid sometimes. No, not sometimes. All the time. He loves to bother the heck out of me and never leaves me alone. But what he said wasn’t false though. I was also thinking of him, my crush. He never noticed me, and honestly I don’t even care anymore. I’ve liked him since freshman year. Since the time I saw him in my class and him lending me a pencil when I needed one. But he is sooo out of my league. He’s the typical jock. Popular, gets all the girls, captain of the football team, dating the captain of the cheer squad. How typical. And I thought that was only in movies and stories. Apparently not though.
I put on my pajamas and went to bed when suddenly my phone rang. Not deciding to look at the caller ID, I picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Hey Abby? I need to talk to you.”
“Jasmine? What’s wrong, why are you crying?.....What did he do?”
Minutes past and I thought she hung up when I heard her speak again.
“I-I saw him…kissing…ano-another girl..”
“Oh my god, I'm going to kill that bastard. I’m coming over right now.”
“No Abby don’t, I’m okay.”
“No you’re not Jasmine, I’m coming over. You can’t stop me.”
With that, I grabbed my jacket and grabbed the keys and went over to her house. I knew that guy was trouble. I told her. He never seemed right to me. Before he started to date Jamine, he was a manwhore. Guess who his best friend is? You got it, my used to be crush, Luke. They were the best of friends. Didn’t I tell you that I only thought this happened in books and movies? Well, looks like I'm living the fairy tale life. Ugh, kill me now.
I knocked on Jasmine’s door and right away, it opened.
“Jasmine talk to me now, tell me everything. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe he did this. No, wait actually I can believe it, but I can’t believe he would do this to you!”
“Abby please calm down. Don’t kill him, please. I know what you’re capable of but I don’t want you to hurt him, not yet at least. I’ll tell you what happened.”
So we went up her to room and sat down on her bed and Jasmine started her story.
“We had a fight the other day. He went to the bathroom and left his phone in the living room. I wasn’t planning on doing anything but once I saw a notification from a girl I didn’t know that sent him a picture of her cleavage, I just had to look at it. I had to know who he was texting and who this chick was and why she would be sending him those kinds of pictures when he was in a relationship. Before I got a chance to look at their conversation, he came back in the room and saw me on his phone. He screamed at me. Oh, he screamed at me Abby! He asked what I was doing and snatched the phone out of my hand while I was trying to ask him who that girl was. He ignored me and grabbed his stuff and left. He just left Abby. I didn’t get the chance to explain myself or ask him what I was wondering about. He hadn’t texted me since that day, but earlier today, I went to the movies. And I freaking saw him with that girl! He had his arm draped over her shoulder and I just sat there watching them. I was so confused. He didn’t say that we broke up. I had no idea what was going on. I was so so confused Abby. Then I saw him kiss her and I just didn’t know what to do anymore so I stormed out of the theatre and I'm sure everyone heard me. And I just started bawling once I left and got into my car. Then once I got home, I called you and now you’re here. I don’t know what I did wrong Abby. I understand I looked at his phone while he was gone but I only did that because we have been dating for over a year and then I see a notification that showed the girl’s face and her cleavage and I just had to find out what he had been keeping from me. I don’t know what to do Abby.” Jasmine said while sobbing the whole time.
“Oh Jasmine. I’m going to have to have a talk with him tomorrow morning at school. But for now, let’s watch some movies and eat ice cream and get your mind off him. Okay?”
“Okay, you’re right. But we have school tomorrow.”
“So? I care about my best friend than not having enough sleep.”
“Thanks Abby, I don’t know what I would do without you.”
“No need to thank me. So, what movie should we pick??”
