I thanked her and hugged her again. "Hey Ma, can I stay at your place tonight? I don't really want to go home just yet, no offence mom." I chuckled softly and smiled gently towards him.
"It's okay bubs, I understand. Amelia is staying with Luce anyway so I'll come by for you at some point tomorrow afternoon after everything settles down." He smile sadly towards me and nodded his head. We all headed out to the cars and split up. Lucas went with Ma back to her place and I went with Luce and Keira. When Luce pulled up in front of my house I sighed when I saw the lights on. "Luce you wouldn't mind coming in to grab a bag for Amelia would you?" She looked at me worryingly through the rear view mirror and nodded her head.
She turned to Keira and Keira nodded her head. "I got it Luce, I'll take the car back to the house and get Amelia settled for the night." I leaned up to the front seat and kissed Keira's cheek softly as a thank you. We all got out of the car and Luce and I grabbed the bags while Keira got into the drivers seat. I opened Amelia's door and kissed her forehead softly.
"Sleep tight baby girl, I'll see you tomorrow. I love you." I thank Keira one last time before Luce and I made our way into the house. Rachel walked out of the kitchen when we walked in the front door and looked between us in confusion.
"Where are the kids?" I looked towards her and furrowed my brows.
"You mean the kids you left without saying goodbye to? They're not staying here tonight." She looked at me in surprise but I walked upstairs with the bags. I noticed Lucy didn't follow but I didn't really have time to think about that as I packed a bag full of spare clothes and supplies for Amelia. I walked back downstairs to see Lucy and Rachel having a stare off with one another and I sighed before handing the bag to Lucy.
I walked her to the door and stepped outside while closing it behind me but not fully. "Thank you for taking her for me. I really owe you guys one." She smiled softly down at me and shook her head.
"Please you're making it up to us by letting us have her. We love the kid and we love you. Call me if there's any trouble okay?" I smiled softly at her and nodded my head before hugging her. I made sure she made it home alright before walking back inside to face the reality that is my life.
I made my way to the kitchen to see Rachel leaning against the island with her arms folded while deep in thought. "They're my kids too you know, I'm their mother as well." I scoffed and that made her look up at me. She looked surprised at first but it quickly turned to anger as she stood up straighter.
"You haven't been much of a mother to them lately now have you?" I could see her clench her jack as her knuckles turned white. "You have more to say so say it. Go on. I know you've been waiting to have at me for the last seventeen years so go on. It's your fault we're at this position anyway." I looked away from her and placed my hands on my hips as the anger boiled inside me. "What? Cat got your tongue is it?" She looked back at me and glared at me.
"I'm pregnant Lily." The room went dead silent as we stared at one another as the weight of her words started to sink in. It took me a few seconds to wrap my head around what she had just said.
"You're what?" I didn't even bother to try hide the hurt in my voice as my voice cracked while I spoke. She looked at me guiltily and stepped towards me but I held my hands up.
"Please let me explain Lil." I looked away from her and turned my back so I wouldn't have to look at her. I didn't know how I was supposed to feel right now. I reached for my car keys and walked out of the house was Rachel hot my heels. "Lily, can we talk about this please? Where are you going? Lily!"
"How long?" She looked at me sadly and I saw the tears fall from her eyes. Something about this didn't seem right seeing her so distraught over this.
"Eight weeks." I chuckled softly and shook my head. I turned back to my car and was about to get in but I wanted to be the bigger person in this situation. I cursed under my breath before slamming the car door shut and turning back to her.
I looked down at her stomach to see the slightest bump beginning to form. I noticed she was starting to shiver so I walked over to her and held out my hand for her to take. She looked at me in surprise but still took my hand in hers. I pulled her inside and made her sit in the living room while I made us tea. When I walked back to the living room Rach was completely zoned out looking at the picture of our family on the mantelpiece with her hand rubbing her stomach subconsciously.
I set the mug of tea down on the coffee table in front of her before walking over to the other sofa and sitting down. It was dead silent for a while before she starting talking. Once she started she didn't stop. She kept talking and talking even when when the tears poured from her eyes. We were in for a long night of tears.
