I hugged her cold lifeless body close to my chest, gently striking her brunette hair. I warned her about coming to find me, but even she was too stubborn to listen. I can't blame her however, it's her job as a private detective to look for answers.

Hours prior to her slow death in one of my traps, I told her everything she wanted to know. All the murders in the past month were left as mysteries until I explained each and every one much to my dismay. She listened intently, grimacing occasionally from the gruesome details I gave. Her death was something I wanted to avoid but it would be long now. I could make it quicker with a simple stab to her chest, but I didn't want to cause any form of pain to her. Instead I just held her until she passed.

Even in her death, I still held her close to me...close to my aching and longing heart. With soft whimpers, I let my tears flow as the shock of losing someone else precious to me cane crashing down. I looked up to the clear dark night silently in thought. I used to look upon the stars and pray, sometimes just for luck but there was nothing I could have prayed for now. I lost everything close to me and now I'm slowly losing those even closer to me in my life. If I wasn't chosen to guard this haunted maze then everything would be better.

I stiffened slightly as the soft crunching of leaves near the entrance alerted me to another small group of people...teenagers by the sound of their laughter and daring haunts as they challenged their friend to enter with them. A jagged smile crossed my lips as my fangs elongated and my stomach growled, gnawing at me to eat. Taking one last look at my friend, I pushed her body back into the secret wall leading to the center of this maze - where I resided - and left the dead end corner. It was time to have another meal that no one would be able to solve the mystery of....until another friend of mines decides to take the case at hand.
