I never expected any of this to happen. Up until then, my whole life has been planned out exactly the way I waned it to be..until now.
I remember the expression on my face the day my parents told me we'd be having an exchange student staying with us for the next two years. Excited, no ecstatic was what I was! Having a brother or sister-like member in the family was more then enough then to complete my life. Or so I thought.
The day we went to the airport ,I was filled with joyfulness, despite me knowing this person I already loved her! Assuming it was a girl. With a name like Dani, I can't imagine it being a guy.
We waited, and waited, until both me and my mom were nearly asleep from boredom. As soon as my eyes shut completely my dad jumped up, causing me to instantly rise up, along with my mother. In the faint distance I could see a person holding a sign saying "Daniel" with "Dani" written in parentheses.
When we finally got Dani's attention he rushed over to us, embracing us as if he were returning to us. He hugged my parents first, then me, yet hugged me for the longest. At first I thought nothing of it, until I saw him wink at me. That's when I knew my life was about to get complicated.
On the ride home my parents created small talk by the only way possible, talking about me. You would think they would be trying to get to know Daniel. But lucky me they did just what I was afraid of.. Suggest the exchange of numbers. Since he can't use his phone from Germany, my parents thought it would be nice to get him one here. Not only did they do that, but they all ready had theirs put in it, along with mines. As soon as they gave it to him I was basically commanded to give his mines. Right after that , not surprised, he decides to text me. But it wasn't at all what I expected. I look down at the screen and smile at what I thought would be the most relieving words to hear,
"Don't worry, I'm gay."
