A'Mia Jones

     "Mia get your ass down here and do these damn dishes." I groaned quietly knowing my drunk ass father returned home from "work." "Coming!" I opened my door and shut it quietly trying not to wake my 3 year old sister A'Nia. "WHY THE FUCK AREN'T MY DISHES DONE MIA! YOUR MAMA SHOULD'VE TOOK YOUR ASS WITH HER TO CHICAGO!" As he tossed me by my hair throwing me across the kitchen floor. I got up slowly groaning in pain as I hear my little sisters feet coming downstairs "Mi Mi you ok sissy." She said quietly with tears in her eyes. "Sissy is ok go upstairs and brush your teeth and wash your face." She ran upstairs to go do as told.

  "Bitch I said wash these damn dishes get to it you fucking bastard ass child." My drunk ass father shouted from the living room watching some basketball game. Let me properly introduce myself my name is A'Mia Honesty Jones I'm 16 years old and I attend Lithonia High School in Lithonia, Georgia. I couldn't wait to get me and my sister out of this hell hole but that'll all be soon once I graduate high school.

  I hated it in this house my little sister shouldn't have to grow up like this and I'm not allowing it. What my dumb ass father did not know was that I worked in a daycare and my little sister is gladly welcomed there. Ms. Ann knows about most of the problems at home because she lives next door to us. We would sneak over there while our dad would bring random skanky ass chicks to the house. I've saved up most of my money I want a car but that could wait until me and my sister moves to Chicago.

  I want to find my mom and get answers as to why she left us in that hell hole and she better have found a good enough reason to leave us behind for 3 fucking years. I work nonstop 7 days a week so that I can save up so that way me and my sister can have somewhere to live. I don't even bring my money home because I don't want my dad to find it and steal it so I just keep it in my locker at the daycare nobody knows. I already saved up our bus tickets so we can get there I just have to find us a nice little place so we can have a home and not staying in a hotel.

  I finished cleaning up the kitchen, living room, dining room, and bathroom. I looked at my phone to check the time and I had about 20 minutes to get me and Nia ready to go. "Nia come on so we can get you dressed we have to go mami." I told her. After I got her dressed I brushed her hair in a ponytail and I got myself dressed so we could leave. I got dressed in blue skinny jeans, a black crop top, my black fanny pack, and my black and white Nike's. I grabbed my phone, charger, house keys and grabbed Nia's hand. I grabbed 2 bananas, 2 orange juices, and 2 granola bars I told Nia to eat on the way so we wouldn't be late good thing the daycare was right behind my school which was only 5 minutes away.

I took Nia inside the daycare gave her a peck on the forehead and left to get to school. Just as I was walking in the parking lot a car almost hit me in the process. I stood there and waited for the person to get out the car to confront them "Next time could you pay attention to the road." I rolled my eyes at this idiot. "My bad baby can you forgive me?" I just nodded my head and walked into my 1st class which was Mrs. William's. I promise she hated me for no reason.

  Mrs. William's gave us a project to do so everyone got into groups of 4 my group consisted of Nose Picking Nick, Sassy Sarah, Nagging Nia, Hoe Ass Hannah. Yes everyone gave them a name because they're all the truth. I never called them that I just called them by their names. "Hannah may you pass me the marker?" She gave me the marker. "Girl why did Gia tell me that Aaron gave her HIV a bitch almost passed out y'all should've seen how fast I ran away from that hoe." I just giggled silently because her and Gia are best friends and damn near slept with the whole school.

  Lunch came around but I went up to McDonalds down the street grabbed me a meal and grabbed a happy meal for Nia. I went to the daycare and ate lunch with her. As I was sitting down Nia asked me the one question I was not expecting her to ask. "Mi Mi why daddy hit you? Him not nice I hit him for you. I beat his ass." I scolded her. "Mami you know better than to say that word I don't wanna hear it again. It's ok mami sissy is fine we'll be out of their soon enough baby be patient. But I have to go I love you munchkin." We said our goodbyes as I headed back to school.

  School went by pretty quick I grabbed my backpack and all my homework out of my locker. I walked in the daycare "Hey Ms. Ann I'm gonna go get started with the kids lunches and do some homework if you need me you know where to find me." She just nodded her head. I turned on the stereo and turned the volume up to Kash Doll X For Everybody the kids were napping so they couldn't hear. I was getting their Grilled Cheese ready and started doing some home work. Ms. Ann walked into the kitchen to grab a juice. "Mi Mi when are you gonna get out that house? I found a bruise on A'Nia's back today. And she just cried her little eyes out and told me not to tell you." I shot up and said "Why didn't you tell me you know we would've been gone by now."

  I lifted up Nia's shirt to see the tiny bruise and I just wanted to cry right there but I'm not. I gently shook her and told her to grab her things. I went to my locker grabbed everything I had in there. I told Ms. Ann that it would be my last day and she just understood but told me to call her with my plans. I gave her a hug. I unlocked the door gave Nia a Bologna Sandwich, bag of chips and a juice. I heard the door shut loudly as I walked to confront this son of a bitch "You have lost your mind putting your hands on A'Nia but that's ok I took pictures from every bruise, I had a camera set up to record every beating. You are taking your ass to prison and I don't care what they do to you. You are a pathetic ass excuse of a father and I hope you rot in hell." I walked away as I waited til the cops came and arrested him as I was walking upstairs my dad pulled my foot as I fell down the stairs I screamed from the pain I was feeling. "BITCH YOU TAKE YOU AND YOUR RAGGEDY ASS SISTER UP OUT MY HOUSE AND DON'T YOU FUCKING RETURN THE PAPERS FOR YOU TO ADOPT HER ASS IS SIGNED AND RIGHT THERE WAITING FOR YOU DUMB BITCH!"

  His words didn't even affect me anymore I took my sister and everything I needed with me went to the daycare and talked to Ms. Ann. "Ms. Ann could we stay here tonight. And could you watch her in the morning I'm going to get emancipated so that way I can have Nia cause I don't want her in a foster home." She just grabbed me and hugged me tight as I just let tears and every emotion release.

  "You know where to put your things go get cleaned up and get ready for dinner I'll watch Nia." I nodded my head kissed Nia and went downstairs. I took a shower and put on some pajamas as I get Nia things ready for her to take a shower once we were done eating dinner. I went upstairs to see Nia sitting on the counter dancing while Ms. Ann cooked. I just stood by the entrance watching them with a smile on my face. "Come on girls sit down I cooked Fried Chicken, Fried Fish, Garlic Bread for dinner tonight." We sat down as Ms. Ann prayed and we dug into our food. You know it was good when you could just hear the silverware scraping the plate and no one was talking.

  I cleaned the kitchen and took Nia downstairs so she could get ready for bed. When we were good and ready for bed I read Nia a book just like every night for her to go to sleep. I tucked her in and went upstairs to find Ms. Ann in the living room watching TV. "Hey so me and Nia are going to move to Chicago tomorrow because I can't just be here with him. I don't want Nia in this mess and you know my birthday is coming up next month so I could just wait to get to Chicago and adopt Nia as my daughter." Ms. Ann had tears in her eyes. "I knew that's what you were deciding I just guess I wasn't as prepared for you to tell me. But you do what you think is good for you and my baby. Make sure you guys keep in touch with me. I love you guys like y'all are my own. I just want the best for y'all." I shook my head as tears fell down my eyes. 

  I hugged her and got ready for bed cause our bus would be ready to leave the station at 12pm.

"Mi Mi wake up Ms. Ann got food." I heard Nia wake me up. I got up to do my hygiene routine and looked around the room to make sure we had our things packed. I went upstairs and Ms. Ann already had the plates fixed I said good morning and dug in my food. "MMMM this is so good." I moaned while shaking my head.

   We helped Ms. Ann clean the kitchen and she went downstairs to help us get ready to go we packed all the stuff in the daycare van as she drove us to the station I just looked out the window going down memory lane. As we got out the car and loaded our things onto the bus it was time for us to leave. We said our goodbyes to Ms. Ann. When we got seated I just sat and held my sister as she watched Pinkalicious And Peteriffic on my phone.
