"What did you do to Ev?" Viola asked stopping by Corin, as Fabian stepped around them and began making his lunch.

Corin shook his head.

"The light's blinking. And you godda do something it now."

Viola waked towards the door with out another word and stuck her head out. Evijorn was sitting on his bed in his room, the door open. Head phones in his ears; he chewed at the sandwich he held. He was staring out into to space when suddenly coming to, he spat his mouthful of bread across the room and slammed his sandwich at the wall. Viola turned back to the redhead.

"Thank you. Don't stay-I'll be back. I'm going to get my Father." She muttered before dashing out of the room. Corin stood and watched her leave.

"Wha's goin' on?" Fabian asked, putting down his jar of pickles.

Corin shook his head and closed the kitchen door.

"Ev's going to have another paroxysm attack. He's already acting up. Vi's gone to get her father and he'll be back here any moment."

Fabian closed his sandwich and picked it up.

"Hell!" He exclaimed. "Do we get out?"

He was cut off, as a scream errupted drom Evijorn's room.

"Hell!" Fabian squeaked. "I thought this wasn't supposed to happen while we were around! They said the beeper would alert them before it happened! They tested it!"

Corin opened his mouth to say something when the front door of the house swung back. The two boys skittered to the entrance.

Looking out, the saw two of the wards's therapists going immediately to Evijorn's bedroom door.

"Can we come in Evijorn?" One asked. There was no answer.

"Evijorn?" The one who had spoken poked his head around the door. The boy lay sprawled out on his floor, eyes rolled back in his head. He looked as if he had been knocked out; only his limbs twitched and jerked.

"Right." The therapist exclaimed, stepping into the room.

"Ferguson you take one side of him, I'll take the other. Get the stretcher."

James Ferguson ran for the stretcher and brought it back, dropping it gently onto the bed beside the dazed youth. Moving quickly and with out another word, the two men loaded Evijorn onto it and headed for the door.

"You know where to go." The first exclaimed as they hurried backwards out the door.

"Wait!" Corin said as they stopped briefly for him.

"Will he be ok?"

The two men nodded.

"Of course."

The two hurried out the door without another word.

Corin turned back to Fabian who stood still; sandwich in hand. The two stood in silence for a moment, before Fabian ended it.

"Another clinic reaction. Number 201 In the 'psychiatrist's manual of; what to say to a patient who is worried for the self or another' book." Corin spat.

Fabian nodded. "D'yah-" He broke off, and looked down at his bitten sandwich.

"Wha if he comes down here in the night man, and just kills us in our sleep?" The African American began.

"Wha if he just-we got no defence against him. He's a bloody crazy bastard! He's mad as a hatter. Off his nut. Thinks he's someone else at times, somewhere else at times, and what?"

The redhead said nothing for a moment, staring at the ground-and his shoes.

"I dunno. He's off again. 'Aint nothin we can do. I've only been living with him for two months. I dunno exactly what he's like. But I know one thing for sure. The 'chiatrists 'aren't gonna put us in with a mad man who'd murder us like lambs for the slaughter. The beeper on his bracelet was one of those measures out in place to keep Ev in a comfortable, natural feeling environment with kids his own age, and us safe from him. It worked see?"

"Buh-" Fabian and put down his sandwich again.

"He just freaks me out man! Like, sometimes he gets that look in his eyes and-BAMO! He just cracks! Just like that you know?"

Corin nodded.

"Yeah."

Fabian sighed again and licked his lips.

"Wha you recon, Cor? Recon he's a bad guy? I dunn think so. I recon he's a good guy-just he don't know it."

Both of the boys nodded in agreement. There followed a few moments silence, before Corin changed the ominous subject.

"I got another one of those thingamys tomorrow." He began, slapping the kitchen top and exhaling.

"Godda go down to C ward."

Fabian cocked his head.

"Thingamys? Division C?"

"Check-up. The C stands for compulsion."

Fabian raised an eyebrow.

"I got Kleptomania, remember?"

The African American grinned and nodded as Corin stepped toward him with a remorseful look on his small face.

"Here." He said, as he handed Fabian a sock. The youth widened his eyes and looked down at his feet. Both with converse sneakers on, but one with outs sock in it. Fabian shook his head slowly in disbelief.

"How did you-?"

The conversation ended in a hurry, as neither boy had anything else to say. Corin turned, and with his hands in his pockets, left the kitchen. Fabian went back to his room.
