Corin stood also, and nodded. He hardly came to Evijorn's shoulder, but next to Viola, he was a perfect height.

"M' hungry." He nodded. "Haven't had lunch yet. I'll make you something-wadda' you want?"

"I've had lunch thanks Corin. I'll come with you though."

Viola smiled and patted Evijorn on the shoulder.

"Do you want anything?"

He shook his head.

Viola nodded and walked off into the kitchen with an eagerly following Corin.

Evijorn sat quietly, staring out the window at the fence that wound along the hill and beyond; a landscape of a small village-like a doll's town-made to comfort the inhabitants. Normal houses, normal streets, and placed in the center of the ward's expanse was a giant building; white walls on the inside so sterile you could see your own breath against them. It was the heart of the action, and the home to those needing close servailance and treatment, or even just a daily checkup. The whole place looked like a TV set for a movie, but in reality it was just a part of town sectioned off years ago by the council and turned into the largest psychiatric ward ever built. It was a miniature town to keep the dwellers comfortable and at ease while they stayed for treatment. There were sections, for severity in illness, but the boundaries were very rarely crossed by patients of other sections. From what they could see, those looking in found it a pleasant place, a simply marvelous, natural feeling way to undergo treatment for rehabilitation. But behind the barbed wire, high voltage eletric fence that kept some people in and others out, it was a different story. From the inside it was a maze of houses lived in by patients, and the queen bee of the whole place sitting in the center; all white walls and restraining cubicles. Exit Point. A psychiatric ward for troubled youths. Everyone had their problems, Corin's unbreakable pinching habit for instance, His own gloom state that never seemed reason enough to be locked away behind electrified barbed wire as sharpe as knives. It was a world of its own behind the fence with no outside interaction on behalf of the inhabitance.

-Giggling.

In the kitchen Viola was laughing.

"Corry, don't be silly just to impress me, because it is not working-Corin don't!" The orang-utan like redhead was in the act of pretending to cut off his fingers.

"My uncle actually did once you know. For realz. Sliced them right off! All four!" He laughed and put down the knife.

"You sure you don't wanna sandwich? I make a mean tomato sauce, lettuce and Vegemite bun? The Aussies think they are the only ones who like it? Damn wrong. I love it."

Viola went green.

"Vegemite and tomato sauce? Oh god Corin! That's disgusting."

Corin nodded. "I know. I tried it out at a mate's house as a dare-before I came here-and I actually liked it."

Viola twisted her strait hair in her fingers and shook her head.

"The things you boys do to impress." She observed. "I'm going to go and find Fabian. He should have been done by now. Is he still in his room?"

Corin shrugged.

"Dunno. I was at the beach with you, remember?"

Viola nodded.

"Thought you may have spoken to Evijorn. Back in a moment"

She turned and sashayed across the room and up a flight of stairs.

At the end of a small corridor, was a bright red painted door. It was covered in black and white zebra patterns, and had a sun around the doorknob. Viola knocked twice, and waited for a reply. From behind the door the faint sound of music came, along with footsteps. The zebra door was opened to reveal a tall dark skinned boy with a mass of short dreadlocks piled onto the top of his head. He wore only brightly coloured board shorts and stood in front of a dangling screen of blue beads and shells. His room was glowing with the iridescent colours of a pulsing fibrotic lamp.
