Carmen:
If I asked you to name three supernatural creatures what would you say? Vampire? Werewolf? Witch? Which, to be honest, I don't blame you, for picking those three. They are the most popular. And the most annoying, at that. Especially the Werewolves, they seem to think that they are so much better than the rest of us, and by the rest of us I mean the Adlets, the Cerberus, the Axehandles, and of course, the Hellhounds. In my opinion, Hellhounds should be the most famed, seeing as we are legit the pets of Our Lord.
Yes, you read correctly, I said 'we'. I am a Hellhound. I am a 'supernatural dog', 'bringer of death' and the pet of Our Lord. They say that Hellhounds have been seen with The Grim Reaper, but I can tell you Grim doesn't want anything to do with us. But let me explain the dealio with Hellhounds a bit more.
There is a soul family of Hellhounds. If you can find two families or more completely separate Hellhound families, you've got some pretenders on your hands. Of course, my brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews and cousins separate off the main family to mate, have litters, etcetera. I suppose it's worth it to note that Hellhounds only 'get with' other wolf type species, but the kiddos are always Hellhounds. Like if a Werewolf wanted to 'expand their family' picking a Hellhound would be a really dumb choice, cause they always turn out as Hellhounds. Another note to make is that Hellhounds live for a very long time, well, if your female. I say that because it's a fact. Our Lord has a thing for female pets, and the only ones who have been or possibly will be 'Chosen' have extended life. And there's only one Chosen at a time. The current Chosen is my older sister, Lilith. I don't see her very often, only when I run errands to the palace, but when I do see her, she's sitting on the ground beside Our Lord. We glacé at each other briefly, but that's all we need, cause Hellhounds can communicate with each other with their minds. Basically, it means I've got no privacy.
I suppose I should give some description of what I look like, as well the whole 'Hellhounds' look. I'm pretty short, which confused my parents because Hellhounds are really big, and I mean really big. My little sister, Harla, who is fifteen, is taller than me, and I'm eighteen! I have shoulder-length black hair, which is also different from my family, who all have brown hair, but I suppose the colour isn't too different, so it's not too noticeable. I also have pretty pale skin, which is also weird cause the rest of my family is really tan. But the one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb, enough for people to frown when they realise I'm part of the family, is my eyes. Hellhounds have dark brown eyes, human form and dog form. My eyes are bright green. It's because of my eyes and initial appearance I was bullied a lot at school. Kids would say I was adopted or a pretender, which is a really big insult to anyone in Hell.
Another important detail for Hellhounds is the phasing. When a Hellhound turns thirteen they phase, meaning they turn into their wolf form. Unlike Werewolves, who can only phase on the full moon, Hellhounds can phase whenever they like after they turn thirteen. You can hold me to this information, as I've seen my younger brothers and sisters phase when they turned thirteen. I say seen, because well, I haven't phased yet.
This chapter is really short, I'm sorry!! This chapter was mainly just to give you an idea of what universe this is and like a look-in to what Carmen is like. Chapter Two is going to be longer and have a lot more context, as well as a lot more detail into what Carmen's life is like. Thank you for reading 🖤💜
