chapter one: Him.

For Him, it all started on a sunny afternoon. You could see heat waves clearly above the sand and the small houses. Kids were running around a small village in a desert called the Arakma desert. That village was named after the desert it was situated in. Arakma village. That's where He comes from and that's where all those people came from. While the other kids were playing, He always preferred to stay alone, in his room, near a fire He lit up every afternoon. The gentle crackling and the warmth and soft light of the flames helped Him concentrate on his work as He so carefully wrote and drew on sheets of leaves. He lit off the fire and went downstairs then outside, taking a basket and some bronze coins on his way. He walked in the streets to a small shop, a fruit shop, and went in, going to the back where He looked at the variety of fruits. What He was looking for was not a fruit but a knob. A door knob. When He found it, He twisted it and went inside the now revealed secret room. He put his basket down, took off his shoes and went to the middle of the room, waiting. Not too long after, a lady came in, just sitting in front of Him and getting out an object wrapped in a towel. He handed the lady half the coins He had taken and she handed Him the object wrapped in the towel, then they both went back to the shop. He put the wrapped up object in his basket and took some fruits, bananas, grapes, oranges and a dragonfruit. He paid for the fruits and went back home, putting the fruits in the kitchen and taking his new treasure to his room. As He got in, He lit up the fire again, unwrapped his treasure and put the towel away, looking at the vial of ashes which the lady had given Him like it held all the knowledge of the world. He then put it away and looked outside his small window, dreaming about a life full of adventure. "Dexter! Diner's ready!". Dexter looked up at the sound of his mother's voice then put out the fire "I'm coming, moma!" He said as he put the little vial away and went down the stairs. He ate with his mother, his father and his three sisters, all six of them chatting and eating calmly. That night, something felt off for Dexter. He wanted to take his familly and run away, far from the village. What He didn't know was that he should have...
