I rushed to the bathroom and stripped myself naked. I was already fifteen minutes late. I turned on the shower and stepped into the bathroom. I allowed the water to cascade down my back as I stood still.

10 Minutes Later......

I made my way downstairs still rushing. I was now thirty-five minutes late. God, I was so screwed.

"Hey, honey the kids left for school already?" I questioned.

"Yeah, babe. Can you believe it?" Jason remarked.

"Believe what?" I paused to hear him out.

"Karissa has a boyfriend." Jason bit with his eyes widened. "I'm going kill him if he ever tries to hu-"

" Oh, come on Jason she's sixteen, give her a break."

"So you're taking her side, ooh I can't believe you."

"I'm not taking her side, but I mean she's is getting older, not younger. I would love to talk about this more, but I gotta go I'm already late. Love you." I rushed then gave him a peck on the lips.

I bolted out the door, then sped off in my car, without anticipation.

1 Hour Later.....

I hurried inside the building, but it was empty and capacious. Closing time, I wondered. I approached a lady with brunette hair that sat around a counter.

She seemed to be busy with whatever files she had in front of her. I anticipated a bit before I spoke.

"Ahem, hi I'm here to see Mr. Deslande for the assistant job offer." I shot.

The palm of my hands respirated as I fretted that I had missed the interview.

"And you are?" She asked.

"Mrs. Winterford,"

"Okay, Mr. Deslande is waiting for you in his office."

She rose from her seat and escorted me to his office. This building was profoundly organized and not as empty as I thought. The people that worked here were very professional and mannerable.

We finally reached a door and the lady knocked then entered leaving it cracked open just an inch. I could barely see the inside of the office.

"Mr. Deslande, your 8'o clock appointment is here."

"Maricel, it's 9:30 now."

My heart fell to the ground as I heard Mr. Deslande remark. The thought of whether or not I was going get the job kept spiraling in my mind.

"Uh, so am I to send her back?" Maricel queried.

"No, send her in." He ordered.

Maricel opened the door wider and allowed me to enter then she left leaving the door shut.

"Hi, I'm Mrs-"

"I know who you are. Mrs. Winterford." He heckled throwing a file to his desk, which seemed to be mine.

I stood still without saying a word. To be honest I was nervous. I guess it was the handsome looks of Mr. Deslande that made me nervous or should I say intimidated.

By his looks, I could tell any woman would fall for him immediately with his slightly pink lips, tattooed body and abs that were totally obvious through his shirt.

"So, tell me why you're here Mrs. Winterford?" He questioned with seriousness dripping in his tone.

He walked over on the opposite side of his desk and sat the edge of the desk, not far from where I stood.

"Well, uh...um." I stuttered.

God, I felt like such an idiot.

"Mrs. Winterford, I don't have any time to waste. I'm a businessman which means I'm always busy. So if you don't mind." He shot in a perplexed tone.

"I'm here for a job interview for the assistant position," I answered.

"What makes you think you are the right person for this job and also why should I give you this job?"

"I think I'm the right person because I have the right set of skills for an assistant and you should give me this job because I'm and workaholic."

"Is being late one of your skills?"

"Uh, sir about that I woke up la-"

"And it says here in your file that you were fired from your last job. I would really like to know why, before I even consider hiring you."

Shit! The one question I never wanted him to ever ask me.

"Well, sir my last boss wanted sexual interactions with me, but I wasn't interested as you can also see in my file that I'm married." I retorted with a bit of attitude.

He paused for a few minutes and took in all my appearance, then sat in his chair.

"I also don't understand, if your husband is a millionaire who owns Winterford' Enterprise, why the hell do you want a job, especially the job of becoming an assistant?"

"I guess being independent is also one of my skills."

"My last question Mrs. Winterford  is how hospitable you can be?" He raised a brow.

"More than you at this point. From I came in here you never even told me to sit. You haven't even given me the chance to complete my answers before you interrupt." I harshly acknowledge.

He leaned in then grasped his hands together and placed them on the desk then spoke out, "Mrs. Winterford you never asked to sit."

I looked at him with a side-eye, but I tried my best not to give him attitude since I wanted this job.

"You're hired, but don't ever be late for work again." He warned.

"Thank you, sir," I thanked then shook his hand

"Yes, and leave the door closed."

I exited his office grateful for this job, but I knew someday it would be my sin.
