How can one look across a crowded bar or a filled beach change fate so quickly. I knew when I walked my first step into the dammed destination of Oceanside, I was not walking out the same. I had met my best friend here. Adrian Dolin, a tall young guy with these ocean colored eyes. A smile that really could brighten someone's day. I guess he was a light that guided me through this tunnel of my own making. It was early morning, we both were coming out of the waves. "hey nice technique for an East coast Surfer." He yelled out to me. I smiled as he noticed the sponsor on the board. "I didn't do much Surfing on the east coast, but thank you" You could tell I was from out of country. My thick Italian accent ran true, "You must be a pro though" I added. He nodded "I would like to think that, where are you from?" He asked as we walked up to the board walk parking lot." Latina, Rome. Its off the west coast of Italy "I say smiling. "That's cool, so technically your west coast" He said with enthusiasm. "Yeah pretty much." I heard a loud car pull in. I looked up to a 1964 ford bronco wrapped/painted this nice calm lime green. It was beautiful, I looked up to catch eyes with a tall brunette. I sensed the trouble radiate from the man.

I turned to Adrian," I have to go, I need to catch my meeting but maybe we could grab a drink at the bar over here on the walk. Talk some more, before I leave tomorrow". He smiled at me," great I would love that. Mind if I bring a friend?" He asked. "That would nice, meet new people" I say as I put my board in the back of my jeep. I slipped my wet suit off. "By the way nice tattoos." I smiled and nodded a thank you before I slipped on my work clothes. "Stay in that water, it will keep you on the best path" I said and left him with my card "Nice to meet you Valentina, I'm Adrian" he said. "Nice to meet you too" I added before I left.

I sat a table in the corner by the pool table. I was drinking a beer, I noticed Adrian walk in with this beautiful blonde, who was also in the bronco earlier in the day. I had changed into a pair of black jeans and a tank top with my leather jacket. My hair was down, and had a beanie sitting on top to hide the fade starting in my hair. I had my combat heeled boots on to make my shorter legs look nice. I was short maybe 5'4", 5'5" girl. As I took a sip of my beer, the tall brunette walked in with a group behind Adrian. I looked away as Adrian caught me. I looked back to see him walking over with a smile, the blonde saying something to the brunette then following. The brunette smiled and walked over to the bar, with some girl under his arm. His group following the blonde to the pool table.

"Valentina, Meet Deran Cody. My boyfriend." He said as he reached me. "sup" he said as he placed his arm around Adrian's shoulders. Deran was a tall, blue eyed, tattooed surfer. What I would expect to see. " Hi" I say smiling, "How did the meeting go?" Adrian asked. I had received a text from him right before the meeting started and I said I would be telling him about tonight. "Well, I may be transferred out here from my job, but my company had to a prove of that." I say smiling. As we continued to have the conversation, we talked about Deran and his career. I found he owed the bar, The Drop, I loved the placed. That made both of them happy. Eventually, I had noticed the group had disappeared to the other side of the bar but the consent stare of the brunette was on me. I looked up an caught him staring. He was gorgeous, his eyes were what kept me enticed with him. They pulled me in and there I went and followed. We shared a moment as I felt the time move slower, the room start to disappear. This was the signs I should have seen but I never caught on to them. I should have not come back.

I smiled as I got up. "I'm going to go for a walk, take myself back to the hotel they have me in." I say smiling as I grab everything. "I head out in the morning but I will make sure to stay in contact with both of you." I say smiling at them." maybe you can come surf on my side of the west coast." I said smiling." that would cool" Deran said smiling as he held Adrian under his arm. "I would love that" Adrian added. I smiled and hugged them both bye and paid my part if the tab. I waved as I left. As I looked up at the stars. I knew that should have been the last time I ever wanted to see the brunette. He was trouble but I had a strange pull towards him. Trouble always found me I swear. I wish that was the last time I saw him. Or even the last time I thought about the pull. It was dangerous, like the pull of water that covers you in a wave. The rush of making it out alive. I was destined to be in the world of crime but never did I believe, I was going to be the one that fell down the hole, that Alice so desperately tried to warn us about. This was the moment that changed my fate. I knew that but as I look back, I see it now. This man was my down fall. However, I don't know if I would change the way I fell in love, but I wish maybe just maybe the man was different. Like a hurricane, he destroyed everything he touched including me. How vicious love can be in this world of ours.
