Gusts of wind violently slid past the large white aircraft hanging in the midnight sky, the audible thumping echoed inside as the passengers began to go crazy. At the middle of the plane stood one miss Bernadette Wilson who tried so hard to identify the people aboard but they appeared in only a blur of colors. As the plane began to tilt throwing Bernadette into a seat everything suddenly went black. Bernadette woke in a cold sweat throwing the thin blanket from her body. Her feet hit the cold hard wood floor as she sat at the edge of her bed dreading work. It had all been nothing but a fever dream , a fever dream that had all seemed a little too real.
Thin black heels clacked against the cold tiled floor of the airport as Bernadette's heart began to beat so hard she Forgot how to breathe. Her flight began to board, the tired plastic buttons felt to her as if they were about to burst right off of her chest. Her breathing became heavy as the pilots boisterous voice boomed over the loud speaker. Bernadette took her seat and prepared for take off.even after being a stewardess for 2 years she had never felt as scared as she did right now. The wind was soft and flew by in almost a flutter, the sky held blue and sunny, the weather was perfect, almost too perfect. 3 hours later on the 8 hour flight and the wind picked up, the sky swirled in grey almost black mass , standing at the front of the plane was none other than Bernadette Wilson and with a look of panic in her glassy emerald eyes, everything suddenly went black.
Birds chirped in the morning light as the feet of beau pierce hit the warm dark carpet. He hummed in agreement as his lips sipped at a glass of fresh orange juice. Nothing was more beautiful to beau than the morning light shedding on the blissful country side. The corners of his mouth tugged up into a smile as bright as a million stars. Beau ran a hand through his messy brown curls as he got dressed to go to the only place he loved more in the world than his home. As his ratty old car pulled up to the mass of overgrown trees and flowers a tired smile flashed across his face. The old train cars that showed between the trees tested his heart. He walked to one just past the small pond that had lingered there since he was young. It was a dark rusted red car that he first came across when he was 13 that he now trekked to. Even though the path was blocked by overgrown brush he effortlessly made it to the train car in no time and climbed inside. The walls were lined with battery powered lights and polaroids of a simpler time, on the ground sat a small comforter and beanbag chair . The floor was littered with books and cds and right next to the whithered old bean bag was a small black stero. He took off his beige leather jacket and as he sat in the chair a few beads slipped out and onto the comforter. A plastic case protected one of the many cds that lay scattered on the ground as he picked it up and set it in the player he couldn't help but to sink down and close his eyes. The words danced across his brain as the booming cello played a melody so sad you had to cry , when the piano sung the notes he now had memorized a tear slipped down his cold pale face. Suddenly his eyes flew open as he heard a deafening thud behind his train car. With hurried hands he held his jacket and as slowly and quietly as he could he crawled out.

A woman's Soft black hair lay sprawled on the autumn leaves , her hands as cold as ice lay in perfect placement beside her petite waist .Beau held a hand to his mouth as he realized just what that thud must of been when he saw the most beautiful woman on the ground before him. Kneeling down beau wrapped his warm leather jacket across her in attempt to warm her and Suddenly as if on cue her eyes flickered open revealing the most majestic emerald green. Her voice like silk asked in a stuttering whisper " where am I?" She slowly hugged the jacket up to her legs as they were only covered by a thin pencil skirt. "montana, the old train yard, you don't sound like you're from around here" answered beau. The beauty nodded " say do you know how I got here? " she asked with a blush spreading across her face. " well, ha ha, I was just about to ask you the same thing, what's the last thing you remember ? " beau brushed her hair out of her face and helped her up, with every step they took her slender black heels sunk into the tender ground. " I was on my flight when suddenly the sky went black, then I woke up here " " oh " said beau " so you're a pilot ? Neat. I still don't understand how that leads you to pass out in a junkyard in Montana " her face schrunched in confusion. " im a stewardess actually. Was I the only one you found , did the paper say anything about a crash? " " just you pretty lady. Stewardess huh? I didn't know people still used that term. " " what on earth are you talking about mr...." " beau, beau pierce .and you are? " Bernadette Wilson , now mr.pierce what did you mean that you didn't know people still used that term? " he scoffed " what year are you living in mrs. Wilson. It's 2018 , times have changed " with the words that dripped effortless from his lips as if it was no big deal a look of absolute terror spread on her face. " beau, you asked what year i was living in , the answer. 1950 " and with that she collapsed in his arms.

Bright white lights flashed above her as she gazed around the room. " where am I? Where's beau?" Just then his thick country accent draped over her like a protective blanket in this unknown place. Her uniform had been removed and replaced with only a thin backless gown. " beau, where am I ? " a warmth was there by her side in a second and he wrapped a coffee in her frigid fingers. " don't worry doll " he started " you're just in the hospital I told you it was 2018 and you almost immediately collapsed in my arms. Had to make sure you were all right." A smile spread across his face like a blinding constellation and Bernadette couldn't help but smile back. Just then a woman in a white lab coat walked in with a chart and began asking questions. That was the end of their conversation for now. Aside from some minor injuries from the fall she had taken nothing was wrong and after two hours of tests and questions Bernadette was realeased.

Brakes screeched as beau pulled up to one of his favorite place in the world, his home. Bernadette twiddled her thumbs nervously in the passenger side as beau swung around to open her door. Inside was the most beautiful house she had ever seen. No wall was blank they were covered in breath taking murals. The house lay cosy the simplicity of it just added to the beautiful wooden house and Bernadette hadn't realized that a huge smile cascaded across her face. Beau started the fire place and for the first time all evening he sat down and just looked at her. Sure he had noticed before how pretty she had been with her light makeup, pale skin and perfect raven black hair but now she stood in the glowering light and her hair an absolute mess, no makeup only slightly blemished skin and her eyes tired but still held bright. She was blindingly beautiful. Beau made himself a pallet on the floor and gave Bernadette a long grey sweatshirt to sleep in. As she cozied up under the dark purple comforter her mind went array and the events of the plane crash flashed in her head. " beau " she whispered " I can't stop thinking will you sleep with me. " And so with a nod of his head he crawled under the covers and wrapped her in his arms bracing for tomorrow.

The clock read 11:30am when beau finally woke up, his breath caught in his throat as he saw the sleeping beauty in his arms lightly snoring. Picking himself up he carefully moved her and made his way to the kitchen.

Bernadette woke to the marvelous scent of breakfast. She trekked to the kitchen to see beau up and about making pancakes and bacon and biscuits and to top it all off a glass of fresh orange juice. " morning " she mumbled. " morning, here have some breakfast we have a big day ahead of us " he pushed a honey butter biscuit her way and upon first bite she almost melted.

After breakfast she threw on one of beau's flannels tucking it into her uniform skirt that he had washed and layed out for her. a crooked smile hung on his face as he looked her. " first stop , the mall."

Bursts of color drew Bernadette for miles, she had never seen so many stores at once it was truly magical. Suddenly she was in this time where women could weigh what they wanted , say what they wanted and dress how the wanted. A frown spread on her plump red lips as she looked down at the pencil skirt hugging her hips. Girls with brilliantly placed makeup and jewelry were everywhere. Beau suddenly broke out in a heavy chuckle when he saw the look on her face. " come on doll, lets get you into something a little more you " beau croaked through laughing. Shades of colors Bernadette had never even seen before traipsed across the dressing room in a single tango before landing in her yes pile. Her teeth tugged slightly on her bottom lip and she pulled the door open to see beau standing there. " why beau you do know that i don't have money right? I mean this stuff is all just so expensive and i wouldn't want to inconvience you." She crossed her legs and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as a blush spread across her face. " doll if i was worried about the money i would not have brought you shopping. Have you got your yes pile ? because I'm ready to eat." She nodded and brought the stuff out to pay, after beau handed the cashier his card she grabbed some clothes and went back to the changing room. When she walked back out she was wearing a soft dark blue dolka dot blouse and a pear of grey skinny jeans, her hair was tied back into a braided bun and her feet tredded in their white keds like she was walking on air.

Ketchup and mustard spilled out the side of her lips as she giggled. She had never in her life been so free and recklace. Beau's chocolate brown eyes stared at her with awe and then they were up again. The light clacking of her keds hitting the ground when she ran put a smile on beau's face. The whole day went similarly she bought new clothes and makeup and got her hair cut so that it now stood in sleek curled strands hovering just past her shoulders. Pink, purple , and orange caressed the setting sky as their bare feet swayed in the water, with effortless throws she fed the ducks gathered in the river. At the end of the night they walked back to the decaying scrap metal of a car and headed for home. With wet hair draped over her shoulder and a silky blue nightgown hung on her body she made her way to the king sized bed. " hey beau " she asked as he lay his head next to hers " today was the most fun I've ever had. I don't want to go back home." Turning onto his side beau spoke with addoration laced in his voice. " Bernie , doll , i don't want you to go back either. But where exactly is home ? " she sighed and began to explain.

Bernadette had grown up in New York City , her mother a typical house wife and her father a typical demanding man. Divorce was frowned on then and so her mother made herself as happy as could be with that vile creature she called her husband. Said momma made a lot of money but it all went to daddy except her savings, that, nobody but her knew about. That went towards Bernadette's college, and that was the one thing she missed was her mother. She was born in 1927, had just turned 23 , the year had been 1950 and then suddenly she was here. Bernadette was so happy to live in a society where women had a voice. She didn't know how she got here, why she hadn't died in the crash or why she felt so close to beau pierce But she didn't want to second guess the best thing that had ever happened to her.
______________
Finishing there, her eyes closed and she once again fell asleep in beau's arms.
When she woke, there was a note of the worn wooden table beside the bed that read " morning doll, i hope you slept well. I didn't have time to make breakfast but there is some vanilla yogurt and granola in the fridge. I wish you a good day, i have to work but there is 20 dollars attached to the back of this note. I want you to experience the 21rst century. See ya soon - beau " after she eat that blissfully delicious yogurt she dressed in a simple white knit sweater and a pair of blue jeans, she kicked on her beige toms and was on her way. Everything was in pretty close walking distance which was great for her lack of a car. The cold autumn breeze hummed against her soft skin , she came to a small gazebo surrounded by people , as the white lilies curled in the wind around the curve of the gazebo Bernadette read a sign that hung between the polls. " woman's rights march " the words made her heart swell as she walked up to a woman in a name badge. 'Francesca Dawson' it read. " excuse , miss Dawson , whats happening here?" Her beckoning question spread a smile across Francesca's face. " well as most know women being equal to men used to be considered an impossible task but as we stand here today we are still fighting for a better equal that what we've been given. We take a vow to protect all women in this march. Do you care to join us?" And so with a smile on her rosy face she began to walk through the snow, through the street, and she hoped through the hearts of the people. When she got back to the house she slipped into scorching water and bubbles to calm her muscles. Just as she was about to fall asleep she heard the front door creak upon and beau call out her name. She stepped out wrapping herself in a towel. " beau, hey sorry i lost track of time. How was work?"
She slowly dressed in a pink night shirt and white sweatpants, she tied her hair up in a messy bun and left the bathroom. " mrs Wilson do you even know what i do? " " why no sir i don't , elighten me." And with that she seeped under the covers. Beau rambled for hours about his detective job and how much he loved it. Bernadette listen carefully and hummed along. After a while she brought up a question that had been eating at her brain. " beau, why do you take care of me? I show up out of nowhere and you don't ask questions or put me on the streets." Beau pressed his lips into a thin line " when i was young my mother passed away. She was a woman who believed in the power of destiny, the power of her dreams. That train yard was where she would take me to get away from the world so when you showed up it felt like a sign." " I'm sorry about your mom beau."
" so what did you do today doll ? " beau whispered " i went to a women's march, absolutely beautiful. " she spoke softly " well, I'm glad you had fun " beau yawned. Bernadette sighed in content and curled up falling asleep.
