"Hey, where did they go?" Holly asked.
"Hold on Holly, look at me, please."
As she did, I saw my sister and not who she pretends to be. I wish she didn't feel like she has to put on a show for our parents. I know some of her attitude comes from her frustration of hiding her true self from them. I mean she shouldn't have to feel like putting on a mask to get attention from the woman who gave her life and the man who is closest thing she has to a birth father. They should actually know their own daughter better than her siblings do.
I gave Holly a hug before taking the two girls into the private room and closing the door behind us. Holly said sorry for her attitude tonight and our parents accepted it.
"Who wants a shot?" I asked.
Holly raised her hand. "I want them all!"
Before I could respond with a witty answer of my own, Mum and Dad denied her request in the same tone and timing. Holly actually listened for once. So then I passed out the shot glasses, giving Syd, Hol, Lil and myself two glasses each. Then we took them together. Lil and I then got refills of everyone's drinks before we played a game. I'm not certain how our parents would respond with us partaking in beer pong, which is my preference, so instead we played a tattle tail game.
I've never been on a drunk date, but Holly had. Later on in the game, she had the nerve to rat me out by saying she never got married in Vegas. I know I shouldn't have revealed one of her secrets, but that was a low blow. I said it was a 'Hangover' episode where I married a friend and they bought it. But I wasn't the only one who had a secret Vegas wedding because Sydney had one too. Her reasoning made sense, but that doesn't sound like the girl I know and love. However she had never been to the principal's office, but my sisters and I sure have. And Lily has never got a tattoo which doesn't surprise me because that isn't something she would do.
What followed was the most boring hour of my life with stupid endless talking. How can I get drunk if my parents won't leave? I love them, but this is our time away from them. I would get it if we had moved out, but since we haven't yet, I'm fed up. This is Lily's damn idea anyway. She always wants to invite them to everything we do. I'm glad that they're close, but it's annoying too. No wonder she still hasn't left the nest yet, she attached to their hips.
It took my parents so long to leave because they were talking to Sydney, then they had to deal with sassy Holly and to top it all off, Dad stayed longer just to piss Holly off more. He doesn't care because not the one who has to deal with the aftermath of his interactions with her. I know he's acting like this because Holly has been nothing but mean and rude to him tonight.
When they finally left, Syd walked them out, Holly stormed out of the room yet again, which left Lil and I to keep down the fort. I was looking forward to a normal conversation, but when she opened her mouth, sass came out like vomit. While we waited for Holly to come back, we talked with Syd. I thought that when Holly got back, we would drink heavily now and do karaoke later, like we usually do. But the girls had other ideas.
Neither one didn't inform me of their lovely plan until after I bought a pitcher of beer. Soon there after, Holly came back. She was acting and looking like herself. Then she joined me in the art form of drinking while the other two thought of things to do. I really thought they meant after we're hammered and not instead of. I was pissed.
The girls had the bloody idea about going bowling. I was actually looking forward to not having to share a bloody lane with so many siblings. But like always, Syd had other plans. Holly managed to get herself hammered, but it doesn't take a lot for her to get drunk. I was jealous. Syd blackmailed me into watching my drunk sister by saying how she'll tell Mason of my Vegas wedding with Bridget. I don't know how she figured it out.
It wouldn't have been so dreadful if Hol had stayed put, but I found myself chasing her all around the bloody facility. All she wanted to do was drink so I tried to take her mind off of it by going to the arcade. When it closed, she ran straight for the trampoline place. The next thing I knew, Syd was waking me up while Lily was jumping with the insanely hyper Holly. I could never get her to calm down, but thankfully that's Lily's forte. It took forever to get Holly back to herself. All the way home, Hol was normal, but as soon as we got home, she went absolutely mad. But Syd knew what to do. I didn't have the energy to deal with Hol.
I tried so hard to get some sleep, but nothing worked. I usually can't sleep after a night of drinking. But I thought it would be different this time because I wasn't hammered, I barely had two drinks. So I went out to the couch, hoping that the change of scenery would change my luck, but it was still a no go. Some time later, Lily sleep walked to the smaller couch and fell right asleep. I let my sisters sleep because it was nice to have the common room all to myself for once. So I quietly played video games and hoped I didn't wake up Lily because she's a light sleeper.
Holly finally came out of her cave about two in the afternoon, roughly twelve hours since we three stumbled into the door. I could tell that she had a hangover. She asked what happened last night and I had the joy of telling her how much fun I had as her forced babysitter. She took everything well and even offered to wake Lily up. I was really shocked that Holly got up before Lily because that rarely happens. Lily wakes up with the sun and Holly dances by the moonlight.
Holly first made popcorn and waved the bag in her face before going back to make smoothies. While she was doing that, I got up, grabbed the bag and started throwing the popcorn at Lily. She finally woke up. The girls started to discuss last night's events as I stuffed my face with popcorn and resumed my video games.
All was quiet until we were rudely woken up by screaming. It's a daily occurrence, but this scream was unique. I can only think of one person who screams this bloody way. Then it occurred to me that it was Sunday which means another fun dinner with my girlfriend's parents.
God help me.
