Attack on Sarif

As soon as I finished my sentence an alarm went off.

"Environmental hazard in Labs 3 and 4, all staff report in." an automated voice said

"Adam, get down there and figure out what happened! Take my elevator you know the code." he said

"Yeah, oh-four-five-one." I said

I ran over to the elevator and punched in the code.I got in and pulled out my weapon.

"Pritchard, can you track Megan and the rest?" I asked into my comm

"I cant see anything! The intelecams are down. Theres alot of interference. You need to find out whats happening, Jensen! Hurry!" he said

I got down there and saw mercinaries of some sort. I took them out silently and moved on. I saw another heavily augmented mercinarie I shot at him and it wasn't working. He ran over to me punched me in the face and pushed me through a completely glass wall. I landed on one of the machines pieces were protruding through my shoulder. My face was bloodied and bruised.

"Adam!" Megan yelled

I reached for my gun and pulled it out and aimed for him. He threw the gun from my hand and lifted my by the throat. I choked and gasped for air. Megan came up behind him and threw a barrel of acid at him. It did nothing to him. He dropped me and turned around and punched her and she fell to the floor unconscious. He came back to me and shot me. The darkness was compelling. I wanted to just leave this world and be somewhere with no pain.

"Adam!" I heard Sarif yell faintly "Get the medics down here!"

Where was Megan, the rest, what happened to them?

"Stay with us, son." he said

I can't! It hurts to much!

I felt faint touches and I screamed in pain. I tried not to move but I was also writhing in pain.

The medics took me into a bright room and set me on a table and strapped me down. They started making inscsions.

"Give him the infolink." Sarif said over the intercom

It felt like hours. They had finally finished. I had my shiny new augmentations. I never wanted them, but they saved my life. Had Sarif not ordered that operation, I would be dead. I couldn't do that, not with Megan gone.

"Adam, I'm sorry, I know you need rest, but you have to come in, we have a problem." Sarif said over the infolink.

"Who was that?" my daughter asked

My daughter was from a previous marriage, her mother had died and I barely ever thought about her. I loved her.

"Ah, it was David. I have to go in." I said and stood up.

It was strange the augmentations felt better than my old arms and legs. I felt stronger. I pulled on my shirt and jacket.

"Can I go with you? Please?" she begged

"Fine, but you stay at the office." I said with a smirk

"Yay!" She gleamed.

I loved her. I didnt want anything to happen to her. We got into the car and made our way to Sarif Industies.

"Adam, you in the building yet?" He asked

"Just got here." I said

"Okay, i need to see you as soon as possible." He said

"Okay, I just gotta see Pritchard first. I've been having problems with my retinal enhancement." I said

"Okay, make it quick, you know where he is. Second floor." He said

"Hey, why dont you go see Faridah. You like her." I said to Jess

"What about Megan?" She asked

"Uhm, Megans not here. She's in Washington, for a while." I lied

"Okay." She said and went to the helipad

I got to Pritchard then to Sarif. The elevator ride seemed so slow.

"Adam, theres a problem, the typhoon was moved to the Miluakee Junction and theres been a break in. I need you to go in and get it then bring it back here for Pritchard to examine." He explained

"Okay." I said

I got in took out all the purity first members and found Zeke Sanders in an room with a hostage, manager Josie Thorpe.

"Let her go, you know I cant let you leave with her." I said

"Back up, Hanzer! I'll kill her if I have to!" he threatened

"Look, you dont have to do this, the cops are only interested in keeping the hostages safe, they'll be too busy to worry about you! So just let her go." I said

"No way, cholo. I didnt want to do this. I'm a decorated vet! I'm must look like a fool to everyone out there right now." He said

"Look, you said you're a vet right? You doing better than you think. You dont need a hostage. I have just as much interest to figure who set who up. Just let her go, Zeke." I said

"You free to go. Get out of here." He said

He pushed her away and she ran off.

"Look, I got played here too esse, so just let me go." He said and ran off

"Adam! Adam whats going on!" Sarif asked

"He got away, the hostages are safe." I said

"Please, there were other hostages. My husband was one of them, I need to know he's safe." Josie said

"Dont worry, they're safe, you should be reunited soon, he just needs to questioned." I said

"Mr. Jensen! Is she safe? Is my wife safe?" Greg asked

"Yes. She's a little shaken up, but safe." i said

"Thank you, you know I didnt notice you at first. Then I got to thinking. I know you werent supposed to come back to work yet, thank god you were back or else this would not have gone too well. Thank you again." he said

I nodded my head as Faridah brought down the chopper. I turned and saw Jess running towards me.

"Dad!" She yelled

"Oh, hey honey!" I said and hugged her

"I was so worried!" She said

"Well, I'm fine kiddo." I said

"Adam!" Faridah said "Come on! We have to get the Typhoon to Pritchard." She said coming up to me

"Oh yeah. Come on. Lets go." I said

We got in the chopper and made our way back to Sarif Industries. I went to pritchards office and he looked up at me then back down.

"If you're here about the typhoon I can't examine it right now." he said

"Look, I didnt risk my neck to get this, for you to loose it in a pile of CPU's and SCSI adapters." I said

"Oh, look at you using the big words." He joked

I left the typhoon on Pritchards desk and went back to my office and read my emails and kept an eye on the security cameras.

"Dad, Is it true? Megan might be dead?" Jess asked

I stood from my desk and pulled Jess to my couch and we sat down.

"Who told you?" I asked

"Faridah. She was talking to someone else and I overheard and asked her if it was true." she said

"Yeah, she might be. But that's why I'm doing all this, to find her." I said

"What if you dont?" she asked

I felt that question just echo in my head. I didnt know how to answer that. What if I don't? I loved megan,  I could barely sleep without knowing if she was safe. I had to find her.
