Chapter 2- The "News"

The consequences for pretending to be sick was that Pamela had suudenly been marked as possitive for cancer. It didn't come as a shock to Pamela. Everyone around her smoked or drinked. As soon as her "Father" found out she was sent straight to hospital. They started shaving off her hair and it landed on the ground in giant clumps. The hospital smelled of urine and bleached sheets. The air was cold and sharp and stinged the tip of Pamelas nose. Pamela was given food. Breakfast was bread and jam. Morning tea was biscuits and orange juice. Lunch was a sandwich and a can of spagetti. Afternoon tea was anything they wanted- as long as it was a healthy choice. Dinner was a mix of baked pork, vegetables and mashed potatoe.

Pamela loved the mashed potatoe and poured her gravy all over it and ate slowly, saving the taste on her tounge. Every bed had a small TV and Pamela was allowed to watch TV from 7am to 7pm. She watched cooking shows and giggled at the cartoons. It was all going so well... but that could never be for Pamela... It was just impossible. For she was a very, very unlucky little girl...
