He Waited patiently in his black sedan for his target,he had been informed the man would pass by this path leading to his home.
Pfft! to think some old man was about to become an overnight billionaire baffled him. His sponsor had called him early in the morning before he had his bath
" Dakar, you're going to Lagos" the voice sounded from the other side. it had been long The Sponsor had called him. Long as in 4 years. since the job he executed for him in Oyo. he had never met The Sponsor, or knew who he was - only that he paid him big time for his work, apparently The Sponsor was probably a big shot in the government or a billionaire of some sort who always wanted things done his way either ways Dakar never seemed to care only that he got paid!
"I've got a job for you" The Sponsor seemed to snap him off his thoughts.
"it's been quite a long while Sponsor" he responded. "Was almost sure you had forgotten about me since Oyo". it took time for the Sponsor to reply.
" there wasn't much"
"so, who has ruffled your feathers this time around?" Dakar asked. there had to be a reason for the call.
"You'll get the briefing on your way, your flight and everything you'll need has been taken care off and your reward will be sent to you as soon as this call is dropped"
Dakar wasn't at all surprised, he had always been rewarded upfront, which was what he loved about the Sponsor.
"you leave tonight"
dakar was stunned, *this soon?*. The Sponsor had never given him a task he would have to execute as soon as possible. *man must be running out of time* he thought
" ... And Dakar, i want a clean Job"
The Sponsor added then the line went Dead.
Dakar felt a bit insulted, he had never failed in any task the Sponsor had given him. *he's beginning to doubt me now?*.
*is the job bigger or more dangerous than the one i did perfectly at Oyo?*
dakars mind drifted here and there till his phone beeped a message, lifting the phone he smiled at its content:
*Your Acct 214XXXX485 Has Been Credited with NGN20000000 On 01-NOV-2023 5:46:11 By GWORLD. Bal: NGN75000000.97CR*
*man of his word eh*. Dakar hurried and prepared himself for the task.
Getting into his flight that evening, a file was handed to him where he read what he was to do. done reading he cursed the Sponsor under his breath. his job was to kill Aluko Kosoko a 68-year old man who had "whistled" the discovery of an undisclosed amount of money.
*this was the job?*
*and to think the Sponsor told him he wanted a clean job*
*Has he forgotten i killed the Alaffin of Oyo just 4 years ago without a trace?*
*and now he sends me to murder some old man*
Unbelievable as it sounded to him, he had to get the job done. easy peasy .he thought
Dakar snapped from his thoughts as he saw the old man approach from afar. *isn't he supposed to be heavily guarded?*. he thought.
he knew " whistle blowers" were always treated sacred as soon as "the whistle is blown". or was it the Sponsor making things easier for him?.
He watched him with pity as he would be the last thing he sees before he sends him to his Demise.
