Part Eleven: CountDown

Heart laid his armor out in front of him. Would he need it? He didn't think so. The Hunters had a war at their front door and now everyone had to set their differences aside and work together if they hoped to succeed.

Heart look towards Spear, who was mumbling under his breath, staring at his claws. The snout scar he had showed plainly on his face. He looked at Heart with a concerned expression. "What do we do now? We hardly have time." Spear growled worryingly.

Heart puffed out his chest and snarled: "We fight for what's right, if...it...kills...us." Though I hope it won't.

Quick peered into the doorway. "Fidget and Calamity are almost ready." He barked. Heart nodded and smiled. They were going to need all the help they could get. To be honest, putting Calamity in charge wasn't a bad idea. He was the alpha the Repliwolves needed to lead them. Heart, well Heart wasn't. Not yet.

The sound of Mavericks and Repliwolves cries echoing off the buildings caught Heart's attention. "We have to stop this war before it starts, and we must do it today." Snarled Quick. "If not we lose everything, including our lives."

Heart rolled his eyes and listened for when Layer's voice would sound the alarm. "Emergency! Emergency! All Mavericks Hunters on call must assemble immediately!" Layer's voice echoed over the speakers.

Heart leapt to his paws and ran for the dispatch station. He took his place beside X's hover bike and watched as his brothers also took their positions beside their partners. The only one without a partner would be Fidget, who was twitching uncontrollably, claws shifting the rocks around him.

The door to the garage opened and Heart streaked out ahead of the others. All that mattered was that these Mavericks were stopped.

The sounds of footsteps grew closer and Heart stopped dead in his tracks. Waves and waves of Mavericks stood in front of him. Heart forced his fear down and snarled defiantly.

He was not backing down now.
