"Aren't I charming?"
"You've got as much charm as a dead slug. Sage on the other hand-"
"Is like being blinded by the sun, I know, I know."
"Might as well. My schedule is open at the moment and my vision is pretty sucky already."

"Mrs. Kennedy, we have a problem."
"Let me guess. You caused it?"
There was a long moment of silence before the people erupted into shouts.
"How did you even set a fire?! This isn't even a flammable substance?!"
"Don't ask me! Ask our Chemistry teacher!"
"I've never had a student create a fire with these chemicals! Someone grab me the fire extinguisher on the wall! Now!"
"What's more relaxing than setting something on fire?"
"A lot of things!"
My hand rested on the cold, metal door knob of the classroom door. I doubt my hesitance to go inside was surprising. It was my first day and it seemed my new classmates had started a freaking fire! At least it was in a lab I guess.
I looked down at my feet. My black boots were scuffed up and needed a good cleaning. Slowly, I took a deep breath and turned the doorknob.
"Uhm good morning?" The whole room went from chaotic to silent. My voice rang out loudly and embarrassment crashed over me in a gigantic wave. I felt my cheeks flush with warmth.
"Oh Gosh! I forgot we have a new student! I promise this isn't a normal Monday morning here!"
"Yeah, Tuesdays are much better, Em gets into a lot less trouble then," a pretty, light haired boy commented, jabbing a thumb in the direction of the boy beside him.
"Mhm, on Tuesdays I actually know how to restrain myself." There was laughter in the boy's voice and he was casually leaning on the table he just set fire to.
"That's ... good to know." I bit the inside of my lip and fidgeted with my book bag strap. "So..."
"Ah I'm sorry! I'm still in a bit of shock but please introduce yourself."
" I'm Arden Lachett. I'm 16. And it's probably important that I note that I'm uh colorblind." I spoke, murmuring the last part.
"So you have like a red-green weakness?" Questioned the boy, Em I think it was.
"Uhm no. I guess the better term would be that I'm completely colorblind. It's referred to as monochromacy." I explained, my eyes never leaving the white tiles beneath me.
"Okay, we understand and we'll help you with anything you need." The pretty boy was looking at me again and smiling at me with a smile that could light up any dark room.
"Thank you".
"For right now just pull up a chair next to fire starter since we don't have any empty seats at the moment," the teacher reasoned.
"Alright," I agreed, pulling up a chair next to the boy with a silly grin and messy hair.
" I'm Em. My full name is Ember."
"That's quite fitting."
I turned my attention to the pretty boy again. He reminded me of a prince with his elegance and warmth. "I'm Sage." He gave me his stunning smile once again.
"Nice-Nice to meet you."
"Aw you didn't stutter when I introduced myself. I'm feeling left out, " Em whined. He was like a puppy, one that needed to be quiet about that whole stuttering thing. "I know Sage is a charmer and all but don't give him all the attention." His arms were folded in front of him and a pout rested on his face. "Hey! Why are you glaring at me like that?"
"I'm hoping you'll spontaneously combust."
Both boys laughed and I realized that things just might be okay.
