Power Pup Pout

"God this stuff is fucking disgusting!" I gulp down another grueling bite of 'Power Pup' and hope that the stench doesn't make me throw it right back up. Kobra Kid just smirks and Jet Star gives me a sympathetic look.

"Hey it's all we got out here in the Zones so, eat up Nova," Says Fun Ghoul. "However, if you won't finish it, I will. I'm fucking starving."

"Go right ahead." I shove my can of the disgusting dog food over to him and he practically inhales it. 'God that is gnarly.' The Girl scrunches her nose up as Ghoul does this. The Girl has been staring at Party Poison during the entire course of the 'meal.' I glance over and see him sitting alone. "Hey kiddo, can you let me out? I need to get away from that." I nod towards Ghoul. She quickly nods, making her pint-sized afro bounce around and she gets up from the booth.

I make my way over to Party Poison and lean on the table for his booth watching as he picks at his own can of that wretched dog food. He scoots towards the boarded-up window. 'Was he making room for me or was he trying to get away from me?' I wonder.

I get an answer to the question in my head as he looks at me annoyed.

"Why are you over here? I'd prefer to eat alone at the moment." He says flatly.

"Well, I was about to ask you the same thing. Why are you over here, Party? Typically you eat with us. You know, Tiny Fro over there is worried about you." I sit across from him and search his expression. He glares at me with hazel eyes and then his expression softens slightly.
"Look, I just need a break." Party stares at his can of Power Pup, stabbing at it with his fork. He looks exhausted and drained. "Just some time to not be the leader for a day. I feel like I have to keep everyone safe, especially Lil' Fro over there... She's like a little sister or a daughter to all of us. I don't want her to get hurt again." The Girl lost her mom to some Dracs when BLI took over a while ago. We got her out of Battery City and took off, never looking back.

Party sighs."Who am I kidding... I'm not gonna get a break. I'm the leader, leaders don't get breaks." He shoves his can of bullshit to the edge of the table which catches Ghoul's attention.

"Food?" Ghoul looks around for the can he heard.

"Shut it, Fat Ghoul," I call over.

"Um, rude." He sits back down and clicks his fork against his two empty cans.

I focus on Party Poison again. "Look, Party," I grab his hand and look him dead in the eye. "If you need a break, take a break. We can go take a drive later or hang out on the roof tonight. Something small to keep your mind off of everything. Jet, Kobra, and Ghoul can all take care of The Girl just fine. We all take care of her, this isn't just your burden to bear." I rub my thumb over his gloved one and he squeezes my hand lightly in response.

"I guess you've got a point. I just don't know.." His eyes dart to the table and then back at me. "What if the gang gets ambushed while we're gone? What if Tiny Fro needs me? What if Kobra needs me? What if Korse comes here and tries to take The Girl again? What if-" He rambles, hazel eyes growing wide, hands waving around.

"Party!" I cut him off. He looks at me startled and I move to sit next to him instead. "Relax. Everything is going to be fine. It's only for a few hours, not a few days." I hug him. He tenses up but then lets out a sigh.

"Thanks, Nova." He says quietly. I let go and look at him. His freckled cheeks are slightly pink and his cherry red hair slightly obscures his face, so I can't tell if he's blushing or if his cheeks are pink from sunburn.

A/N: Hello everyone, this is the first part of my first published work on Wattpad. Although this chapter may be short, a mere 700 words, I sincerely hope you enjoyed my work. I'm going to work on having longer chapters and be prepared, there will be fluff.  I'm going to work on putting out new chapters for this on a rather frequent basis depending on, of course, what goes on with my actual life lol.
