"Flare if you must leave now if you want the dragonet to live or Queen Scarlet will kill it for sure!" A large blood-red SkyWing with a jagged war wound on his snout, said in a low urgent tone, pacing back and forth in the small room, with orange and gray rustic walls.
"But Vortex, you will die if they find you. You will die! I can't lose anyone else after what happened to Hawk." Flare pleated desperately. Flare was limping as she had just returned from her flight back from the battle. She had a small but strong build and was always ready to fight, especially if it was for her dragonet.
"Flare I will not die. I am too valuable to Scarlet, I am one of her top fighters. But you and that egg mean nothing to her, NOTHING! You will both be killed now go. Pack your stuff and leave or I will take that egg to someone who will actually care for it." Vortex shoved Flare's supplies into a bag which were laid out in the room.
"But without you-"
"GO OR YOUR DEAD FINAL WARNING!". Flare flinched at the sight of this, new, new, new dragon. Flare didn't know where this anger came from, she never knew Vortex to be an angry dragon, he could never yell at anyone, or at least never bring himself up to it, and this wasn't the dragon she fell in love with. Vortex finally stopped pacing, hearing these words,
"I can't not without you, because. . . I love you," Flare, didn't know what to do Does he really want me to go? I can't live without him, much less raise our dragonet,
"Please," Vortex started crying, letting tears run down his scales, this was the dragon she fell in love with, the kind, compassionate, good-natured dragon. Ever since they were kids she had liked his small acts of kindness, and his small drumming talons when he was worried. And his small things no one would notice, but she did, every step, every scale, and everything was perfect for her. "Just please, leave before anyone finds us. She won't spare them," He started to sob, they knew that they were having twins, and if anyone knew, they were too surely die. The tears running down his scales were like knives stabbing through her heart, each and every one of them.
"Where will I go, how can I live without you?" She really didn't know at this point, if she were to leave, she would kill him. They would find him and end his life, and she couldn't bear that.
"Go anywhere but here. Your best bet is the Jade mountain or somewhere in the sand kingdom but far from the palace. Maybe Moorhen will accept you but I doubt it. I will find you. One day when this stupid war is over. Now go leave I don't want to see you until it is safe." Vortex snapped. He gently picked up Flare's egg. And put it in Flares talons and started to walk out of the room, but he stopped, mid-step and turned and gave Flare one last look.
He looked over his shoulder and only took on a single tear,
"I love you, Flare." Flare didn't know what to say, as she had never heard him say this before. He said it would take him some time before he could say this. I. Love. You. She stood their for what seemed like an hour thinking about how it felt to be loved, how do I even love someone, Flare finished packing and prepared herself to sneak out of the palace. She flew out of their balcony, but she wanted to remember him, so she took something extra with her, the first gift he ever gave her, a gold-painted necklace with a red crystal at the end. The chain of the necklace was one of her favorites, it was the first gift Vortex gave her.
There was a fight scheduled in the arena in a short while, the fight was a celebration of Queen Scarlet's hatching day. Every SkyWing would be there, even Burn. Except of course Flare. Flare waited for the fight to start. That's when she snuck out. She was flying in extremely harsh conditions for days. Until finally after taking the longest route possible, going to the bay of one thousand scales and cutting across the Mud kingdom, to throw off the SkyWings that were surely hunting her. When she arrived at her destination she looked around to make sure there are no dragons nearby. And she finally arrived at the cave, in the Jade mountain, the one place that no one was, the one place no one could tell her no.
She took out all the supplies she brought. And then puts them in the mountain. Flare already had this place set up in case she had to leave. She never thought she would need it. Once she had her everything ready for her. Her bed, her weapons, and her many scrolls. She carefully reached into the large pouch she was carrying with her talons. And took her egg out. She put it carefully down into the small nest she made for it. But suddenly it took her no time to realize, with the size of her egg and the bright red and brown flakes on her egg, her dragnet was going to have fire-scales.
