Third POV
Nighttime was the hardest for Lana to be awake, especially in such a cramped, old apartment complex. The restless spirits of the world seemed to gravitate towards places like she had lived, so she had hoped to get back home to rest as soon as she could. However, during her walk to get apartment, her shoulder had brushed against one of her passing neighbors. She was launched back by the powerful negative energy radiating off of that person.
A week goes by before she sees this person again, the negative energies were now overpowering the person. Lana could see a ghostly white child following her young neighbor. Her neighbor seemed unknowing of his presence, but they were definitely afraid of something that Lana couldn't see. She finds out that her neighbor visited a house that had seen many tragedies, with even more dark rumors, said to be cursed by a victim who once lived there. Curses were never something she believed in, but after seeing that ghost child... Anything could happen.
A few days later, a loud, rhythmic thudding noise began to manifest from the neighbors apartment. Lana could hardly sleep; She'd often spend her nights peering out of the peephole on her door. She's beginning to see more of the child now, he now constantly stays outside that poor woman's door. Lana decided that she should at least speak to her neighbor in the morning about it.
Lana hadn't expected to see what she did. Her neighbor, once a lively, bright woman who jogged every saturday, was now a frail outline of who she was. Her skin had paled from panic and lack of sleep. Her eyes, now sunken in and dim, frantically scanned over the medium in panic. Truth be told: she couldn't tell if Lana was real. The door was shut in Lana's face, but only just before seeing something lingering in the dark house behind her neighbor.
Several days had passed with no sign of her neighbor. Lana could hardly function. She worried for her neighbor, for that pale face in the darkness had terrified her more than anything before. It's negative energies had stained her own, and it terrified her. What's more, she had no way of knowing of her neighbor was going to be okay. Sometimes, she wonders for her own safety.
One day, Lana was walking home from the store. She had purchased a meal for two, intending to split the meal with her neighbor. When she had walked about three feet ahead of the stairs, there was a loud creaking from one of the above floors, then a sudden, sickening cracking thud sound. Lana slowly turned around to see a porcelain white figure crouched over the body of her neighbor. Long black hair covered parts of it's face as it's nightmare-like menacing gaze fell on her. It croaked out as a hand reached for her. Lana closed her eyes, momentarily breaking contact with it's eyes and silencing it.
