That noise...that awful noise filled Lara's mind as she rocked herself back and forth. It was a bone chilling noise that was enough to make a person cry. Laying on the couch was the corpse of her grandfather, the only light in the room was coming from the TV.
"It's not my fault, it's not my fault, it's not my fault." She repeated like it was a mantra, her long curly black hair had whitened due to stress and now looked like a bad root job. Her tan had faded, her eyes had darkened due to lack of sleep. The smell of decay filled the room and the sound of buzzing grew louder as the body attracted more flies. It had been weeks since they moved into the new house and things were weird, but Lara's grandfather refused to admit it. Lara felt like she was watched and never felt safe, especially when she took showers; her grandfather Richard let her get a cat, she begged and said it would prove if she was crazy as animals were better about sensing things than humans. At first, things were normal and Lara loved her new cat and the new friend she had..until she woke up to the sound of the cat hissing at something and the big cat took off into the hall. Then the cat started bringing her "gifts" and these gifts usually consisted of weird pictures that Lara assumed was from the attic and she never thought anything of them until she dreamt of a woman with black hair hovering over her, eyes were red and black and then the woman's hair was shoved down Lara's throat and the girl woke up coughing and panicking.
She pushed it off as a weird nightmare mixed with the stress of finding a job to help her grandfather put her through school. One night Lara was sitting on her bed when the cat began hacking something up and coughed up a large black wad of hair...when Lara went to pick it up in the middle was an eye...like in her dream and she screamed and ran out of the house. When she returned home her cat ran out the door past her screeching like it was being chased and Lara watched it for a moment before she closed the door and walked into the living room and that was when she saw...her, the woman from her dream standing over her grandfather's sleeping figure and then she shoved her hair down the man's throat while he choked to death. Lara screamed and was backed against the wall while hearing that awful noise, expecting her death, instead, she left. The following day had come and gone and Lara is still sitting there, lost in her own head on how she was supposed to explain it to the police, but as the sun began to set all other noises faded into the background and Lara heard only silence, the feeling of eyes on her was back and then she heard...the noise..
