The House Between Worlds

Prolouge

    In this world, there are different types of silence.

There is the peaceful silence people enjoy when relaxing at home, and the quiet of nature that clears the mind when standing in the middle of a deep forest.
There is the silence that sweeps over a classroom during a test in schools, and that peace in your mind when you descend into slumber.

    There is, of course, one other silence. One not so relaxing or comforting.
A silence filled with dolefulness and unease.
The lack of noise that puts your senses on edge and replaces your emotions with a sense of fear.

Silence like this can be found in numerous locations, but none as unremitting as the dirt roads of Ember Lane.
    The quietness of the long forgotten paths on this street is enough to drive a person mad. An ominous aura hangs in the air, so intimidating, even the birds are too frightened to sing; the wind too timid to blow.
Yet, not far away- this long reign of silence would soon be broken, as two moving hunks of machinery drove their way down the worn streets, making their way to a house at the end of the ever winding road.
A house that hid a secret that even time would not dare to whisper.

Hey! So this is the start to my story if you couldn't tell (*⁰▿⁰*)

Please try to be not too judgmental because I don't know much about writing so far, so I would appreciate it if you guys endured my cringy writing without criticizing it. That said- I am open to adjustments, and if you guys have any critiques, please, tell me what I can do to improve this story! :)

I must say though- the first few chapters will be a bit boring before some action starts to kick in. Some of the words may be of questionable choice as well because I like to use unusual vocabulary- so I will try to include footnotes for those who don't understand some of the words.

That said, I hope you enjoy my story, The House Between Worlds!
