"Come on! You don't believe do you?" Mino shouted in my ear.

I did. But who was I to ruin his fun? The stories of Lxchel were popular with different twists to the tale that no one knew which were true and which were just added to give the story more flare.

"Of course not. It's silly really. What's even the point?"

I was trying to derail him from this. It was stupid and childish. But he smirked. The look on his face telling me that there was no way I could persuade him from not venturing off to the forest. So I gave in.

So he grabbed my hand and dragged me to the forest just to the South of town.

"Do you even know where to go?" I eyes him sceptically.

"I know this forest like the back of my hand! My father brings me here once in awhile!" You could hear his grin.

I shook my head knowing I would regret this afterwards. But he was my best friend and I wouldn't tear his fun from him.

"This way I'm sure of it! I've always heard she roams the tree in the middle of a forest." He pointed west.

This was incredible stupid. But I couldn't help myself chuckle from the pure joy of acting childish.

We stopped and infront of us was a large oak tree that looked to be dead. His grin was foxy as he knocked on the bark of the oak.

"Oye! Lxchel the Ugly Terrible Witch! We've come to greet you!" He yelled.

I laughed even though a tiny voice in my head told me I shouldn't be doing this. But I joined too.

"Yeah! Don't be afraid of us! We don't plan on hanging you! We aren't Salem!" I laughed barely getting the words out.

The wind started blowing a bit harshly and I swear I could hear a whisper of a giggle with it. And it made me a bit fearful.

"Mino. Maybe we should go back?" I told him nervously.

The fear rose on his face but was overtaken by his stubborn pride.

"N-No. Don't be scared by all the rumors. Witches aren't real!" His voice sounded like he was trying to reassure himself.

But I wasn't so sure. The wind blew as if a storm was coming and fear was embedded into me as we felt a boney hand clasp our shoulders.
