What a moment to celebrate a joyous yet disastrous day

A wedding filled with unanswered question and dismay

Sadness was not meant for all but for father and me

To see mom get married, what could this be.

The day we started to wonder about if this was real

'twas at the market when father saw them while shopping for our meal

Then one month after we wondered no more

When news of mom's wedding hit us to the core.

I didn't want to go to the wedding to be insulted

With father and me in groups we would be consulted

So I sat on a Mango tree on that fine Sunday

To watch from a distance and view what people are hoping to be a fun-day.

The church was perched on the greenery of the hill

Recently painted, with rumors it was done from Peter's till

Then came a jaguar coming so fast

It carried Peter and his groomsmen, David had a task.

It pulled up and parked neatly at the church step

Peter and his best man got out looking fine and standing so pep

Peter wore a light- coloured grey suit and so did his best man

They were greeted by pastor at the door as he reached out his hand.

Guest were arriving on foot and by car

While other uninvited guest came looking from afar

Another car was coming, it went past more slowly

And stopped by the jaguar in a place reserved for it entirely

I saw mom, her bridesmaid and a man who looked like grandfather

He was there, it made me sick, to think he came once more to give away his daughter

I could distinguish her even in a crowd

She was a statuesque woman who's head she held slightly upturned and proud.

She and her bridesmaid wore short, knee-length blue dresses

While caring bouquets, Peter and Mom had made great choices

Mom was so beautiful and I could imagine her sweet fragrance

It painted me Peter was getting a top-class woman, oh what grievance

I heard the organ peal, the chord, the tune as it came to me that time

But I tried not to think of it while thoughts of father came to my mind

First Peter had won his land, his home and now his wife

father started withdrawing himself as the village slaughtered him as Peter ruined his life

As the door opened, a sight beautiful but with contrariness pretty well blighted my eyes

The photographer ran different positions taking pictures, I could hear no noise

The space behind them full of people, even those uninvited got closer

The parson waved a God-Bless-You for the ceremony was over

The couple climbed at the back seat of the jaquar

There went Mom, she was lost forever

When everyone was gone I climbed down from the tree

The reception at the hotel would be something but I didn't want to see

Father surprised me as he sat alone, playing checkers, he finally please me

With a smile on his face he said , 'We'll show them, wont we"

I was happy he included me in his scheme of things which voluntary

Resulted from the day Mom got married in a wedding so contrary.
