He lays down in my arms, I wrap him tight.

He won't be left, He won't be hurt.

I try to shield his pain,

I keep them away.

His heart has hurt, It's been broken.

I mend it with a kiss.

I lay him to sleep.

His heart? Hopefully mine to keep.

So sweet, so pure.

I can't let him be defeat

He cries, he screams.

I rush, I lean.

A kiss upon is head.

A few words are said.

"I love you" I said.

I kissed him goodnight.

He cried with fear.

I didn't leave, instead I drew near.

I covered him up, and sang him to sleep.

His weary eyes were heavy,

his breathing was shallow.

Was this the end?

No. Just the beginning.

I wrapped him in her arms.

One last kiss goodnight.

I said "I love you" one last time.

and he fell asleep.

In her arms, he lay resting.

My heart was warm, my gaze was soft.

I knew who he was, who he could be.

I saw the potential.

And if had it meant to be?

I knew it would be.
